Nintendo Switch 2 Camera Accessory Revealed, Releases Same Day As Console

The Nintendo Switch 2 Camera allows you to video chat with your friends and bring yourself into a variety of games.

Nintendo Switch 2 is attempting to streamline the process of connecting with your friends, thanks to the addition of a new C button that launches a chat interface. You'll also get a chance to have actual video chats with your friends, as the Nintendo Switch 2 Camera will launch alongside the console on June 5. It will cost $50.

The Nintendo Switch 2 Camera can be used in TV mode, tabletop mode, or handheld mode. Its angle can be adjusted to ensure you remain in the picture, and its wide-angle lens ensures even large groups will show up in the image.

You'll need to have a Nintendo Switch Online membership to use GameChat. However, GameChat will have a brief open access period that allows everyone to try the feature for free. When using the camera feed, your screen will split into two sections--a large top portion showing your game and a smaller panel at the bottom showing your group's streams.

Note that some third-party USB-C cameras may also be compatible with the Switch 2. Nintendo will offer a "Test USB Camera" feature in the system settings so you can check if your device is supported.

Expect to learn more about the Nintendo Switch 2 Camera in the coming days. For now, check out all the biggest announcements from the latest Nintendo Direct. You could also peruse our Switch 2 preorder guide to see everything else that's currently up for grabs.
