Nintendo Today App Announced, Will Include Switch 2 News And More
It functions as a daily calendar, Nintendo says.
Nintendo capped off the March Nintendo Direct by announcing a smartphone app called Nintendo Today. The app will function like a daily calendar, Nintendo said, and it will have news about Nintendo announcements, including details on the Switch 2 when the time comes.
A Nintendo Account is required to use Nintendo Today. The app arrives today, March 27, for iOS and Android. The app is live now; it allows users to choose from multiple different Nintendo franchises to select a theme for the app. You can create widgets for the home screen as well.

Nintendo legend Shigeru Miyamoto appeared during the Nintendo Direct to reveal the app. He also confirmed that Nintendo will continue to share news with fans via the Nintendo Direct broadcasts--the next one is coming up on April 2 with news about the Switch 2.
Miyamoto said Nintendo wants to speak to fans directly, and that's where the idea for the Nintendo Today app came from. The app will allow people to view Nintendo Direct events, and it will show "all sorts of content" for Nintendo games and characters every day. After the April 2 Nintendo Direct, the Nintendo Today app will be filled with news about the Switch 2, Miyamoto said.
Also during the Nintendo Direct, the company revealed a new trailer for Metroid Prime 4: Beyond and discussed a new game-lending program for the Switch (and Switch 2).
