No Man's Sky Dev Celebrates Milestone With Group Selfie and Champagne

"Four years of emotions."

Hello Games has completed the initial development on its ambitious PlayStation 4 and PC space game No Man's Sky; this is referred to as "going gold."

Sean Murray of Hello Games shared an epic group selfie today where he and the team are celebrating the milestone. Look in the background for someone chugging some champagne.

The picture also includes what appears to be the world's first copy of No Man's Sky.

As Murray mentioned, it's been a long road for No Man's Sky. The game, which was almost canceled, was supposed to come out in June before it was delayed to August. Hello Games also fell on some tough times when, on Christmas Eve in 2013, the studio's office flooded.

"Making this game is the hardest thing I've ever done in my life, but we are so close now, and we're prepared to make the tough choices to get it right," Murray explained in May when No Man's Sky was delayed.

The game was nowhere to be seen at E3 this year. Murray would eventually explain that the studio skipped E3 so it could stay home to work on the game instead of attending the event to "build more hype."

No Man's Sky is scheduled to launch on August 9 in North America, followed by August 10 in Europe, and August 12 in the UK. Hello Games recently settled a three-year legal battle over the No Man's Sky name, allowing the title to stay the same.
