No Man's Sky Dev Reveals A New Game, The Last Campfire

Hello Games, the studio behind No Man's Sky and Joe Danger before that, has revealed a new game called The Last Campfire. The title made its debut during The Game Awards, where we learned that it is an adventure that follows the story of a lost Ember trapped in what is described as a "puzzling place." You can see the debut trailer above.

The Ember is "searching for meaning and a way home," the studio explained in a press release. "Together you will discover a beautiful wilderness filled with lost folk, strange creatures and mysterious ruins."

The Last Campfire is the brainchild of Steve Burgess and Chris Symonds, who both previously worked on LostWinds. The duo began working on the project after joining Hello Games, and the studio is referring to it as a "Hello Games Short."

"Like Pixar shorts it’s a way to foster creativity and new voices in the studio," explained Hello Games' Sean Murray. "We started by making Joe Danger, before No Man's Sky, and we want to pay forward our success to give others the opportunity to do the same. I'm so proud that just two of our team has been able to make something so artistically interesting, but also so fun and unique to play. It reminds me of why I love working at Hello Games.

Currently, The Last Campfire doesn't have a release date or platforms, but those who want to express their interest in it can add it to their Steam Wishlist. No Man's Sky, meanwhile, has had a pretty good year, receiving multiple significant updates. The latest of these updates launched on November 21 and was called Visions. It added new planetary biomes, more colorful worlds, new fauna and flora, archeology, and salvaging, among other things.
