No Man's Sky: Elements and Resources Guide

GameSpot may receive revenue from affiliate and advertising partnerships for sharing this content and from purchases through links.

If you find Omegon or Radnox, make sure to pick it up.

If you've started playing No Man's Sky, chances are you've quickly ended up with a lot of resources. Planets are densely packed with minerals to mine and collect, and knowing which ones to focus on will make it much easier to plan for future exploration and avoid being stranded without resources. There are also a bunch of elements that are rare and valuable in trade, and you should definitely collect them if you stumble across them in the game.

It can be difficult to keep track of all the different resources in the game, so we've put together a guide breaking down the different types and purposes of the minerals. We'll be updating this as we get more information about some of the rarer minerals and alloys, too, so check back here in the future!

One thing that I figured out last night that I haven't seen in any guides. If you wait at a trading post on a planet (the ones with 7 launch pads around them) you can talk to all the pilots that land and buy the rare resources from them for cheap. I already have a full stack of each of the 4 purple elements just from visiting 2 trading posts on different planets.

Great guide however there is another precious element. "Murrine- valuable commodity known for its charming qualities." Ive explored around 50 planets and have only found it once. Also I've stumbled across a few other alloys including Aronium, Grantine and Crolium.

Interesting use of elements and very realistic. This game looks better and better. Hopefully the usage system in this game is fair and not gonna guzzle them.

I wonder if there's ever any other use for cultural items. I've gotten daggers, beads, gek idols, geknip (which i hope really is catnip for geks) and a lot of masks filled with anger-gas.

Lot of coverage concerning this game. Wonder how long it'll last. The game looks fine, but I have a feeling in a week when I mention the game, no one will know what game I'm talking about.

@theinherentvice: I think you must be in a different time stream than we are. Where I come from, one week is 10,080 minutes. This game will be memorable in exponentially longer spans of time than that.
