No Man's Sky PC and PS4 Premium Versions Announced

Bonus DLC and more included with the space game's premium editions for PC and PlayStation 4.

In addition to the standard $60 version of No Man's Sky for PC and PlayStation 4, fans who want to spend more will be able to. Sony also today announced an $80 Limited Edition PS4 version for retail, while iam8bit and developer Hello Games have partnered to make a $150 "Explorer's Edition" for the PC edition.

The Limited Edition comes with the game in a steelbook case, as well as the following content:

Adventures in No Man's Sky Comic - Featuring two stories set in the No Man's Sky universe, with contributions from Watchmen co-creator Dave Gibbons, Deus Ex: Human Revolution and Star Trek: Titan writer James Swallow, and sci-fi illustrator Angus McKie
The Art of No Man's Sky - 48 page art book featuring a host of concept art
PS4 Dynamic Theme - Immerse yourself in the world of No Man's Sky with this unique PlayStation®4 system theme with beautiful abstract art inspired by the game's vast, mysterious universe.
Bonus In-game DLC:
- PHOTONIX CORE - An advanced ship boost that will speed up your voyage as you travel through the stars.
- TRADER CHARISMA - Receive a bonus set of valuable resources to gain an advantage in selling and trading.
- BOLTCASTER SM - Secure access to a powerful weapon blueprint, perfect for defending against hostile lifeforms and Sentinels.

The $150 Explorer's Edition is described as a "lovingly crafted package, designed to evoke a sense of space nostalgia via the inclusion of a tin toy-style ship replica."

Its centerpiece is a metal cast ship replica. iam8bit said it's "spared no expense" to achieve "hyper-detail" for this ship, which is hand-painted. The bundle also comes with some decals you can apply to the ship's body, while it also features a removable background display.

The Explorer's Edition is limited to 10,000 units, so if you're interested, you may want to preorder soon. Note that this version comes with a PC code you can redeem through Steam.

Can the Bonus In-game DLC (included with the $80 Limited Edition PS4 version) be earned over time through gameplay or purchased with earned in-game currency in the regular $60 PS4 version? Or do I need to purchase the Limited Edition PS4 version in order to have access to the PHOTONIX CORE, TRADER CHARISMA, and BOLTCASTER SM?

Sigh. Indie = business model, AAA= budget. Just happens that a-lot of Indie developers aren't loaded. "In the video game industry, AAA (pronounced "triple A") or Triple-A is a classification term used for games with the highest development BUDGETS and levels of promotion or the highest ratings by a consensus of professional reviewers." AAA is not a BUSINESS MODEL. Valentines not Valentimes you muggles.

Nerds, all of you down there in the comments. Just play your game, they're not forcing you to get the 80$ or 150$ versions. If you don't have the money to get it then skip it and don't complain about it especially if you don't want it to begin with.

You would be surprised the awesome lives some of your betters have junior. Don't let your check to check status interfere with your brain too much. One day when you become an adult you too can buy what you like and spend money on silly things without worrying about your rent not being paid. While still keeping your financial house in order. It's called have discretionary income.

@myhomieyoda: PC idiots can waste all the money they want to, it won't matter in the end, their dinosaur is dying. You can have all the money in the world, but it still doesn't make sense to spend twice as much for 10% better graphics, or 3 times as much for 25% better performance.

Their arguments are always so nonsensical, you can tell they don't get it or they are in such a small minority of people willing to waste their money they are out of touch.

You guys can enjoy your endless steam indie junk hunched over with your overpriced gaming keyboards. But the battle is over, you can stop fighting. Hug your PC tonight, because there will come a day when you have to say goodbye.

@TheZeroPercent: if you were a collector you would if you have a figurine from say the original assassins creed it's worth quite a few hundred dollars now. If you get the right one in time it could be worth thousands. I know I'm sitting on some of mine with my fingers crossed. So also with this being the first in a possible franchise it has the highest potential of being valuable. Plus it's numbered to only 10 000..... I'll bet more than a few of these end up on ebay by scum bag opportunists trying to make a quick buck.
