Octopath Traveler 1 And 2 Added To Game Pass, And Out Now On All Consoles

The original Octopath Traveler has arrived on PS4 and PS5, while Octopath Traveler 2 has released on Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One.

Comments

You can now play both Octopath Traveler games no matter what console you own, with the original Octopath Traveler now available on PS4 and PS5, and Octopath Traveler 2 becoming avilable for Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One via Game Pass.

Other than a hint from the Taiwanese game rating committee, the cross-platform drop comes as a surprise, almost six years after the first Octopath Traveler game released solely for the Nintendo Switch. Now that both Xbox and PlayStation players have access to both games, Square Enix has also released the Octopath titles as a two game bundle that's available on all consoles.

Now Playing: Octopath Traveler II - Launch Trailer

Both the original game and its sequel have also been added to Game Pass across both PC and Xbox consoles. The official announcement from Square Enix notes that both titles will be available on Game Pass until January 2026.

In addition to the console releases, Octopath Traveler 2 is getting extra content that will be in the game from launch for Xbox consoles, and will be added in an update for all other platforms. The new content includes an endgame "Extra Battle" mode, which allows players to challenge difficult enemies after defeating the final boss--with potential enemies including the protagonists of the first game.

The Octopath Traveler games are nostalgic 2D turn-based JRPGs, applying modern updates to a classic formula. Each game features a unique cast of eight playable characters, each with their own unique skills and stories to tell.
