A police officer donated his collection of Pokemon trading cards to young boy who had his stolen, local news station Fox 8 Cleveland (via GameZone) reports.

Nine-year-old Bryce said he had built his collection of cards since he was six, keeping them in a binder. When he was walking to a friend's house one day, "some kid" yanked them out of his hands and ran away.

"Then my mom called the cops and they showed up," Bryce said.

Officers James Grotenrath and Ken Kirk came by to take a report. They eventually found the boy who stole Bryce's cards, but after they recovered the binder, some of the cards were gone.

Officer Grotenrath, 26, said he understands the pain Bryce felt losing the cards, since he was a fan of Pokemon in his youth as well. "I would be heartbroken too if my cards were taken from me," he explained.

After his shift ended, Grotenrath dug through his closet and found his old collection of Pokemon cards. He returned to Bryce's home and gave them to the boy. One of the cards was the rare Ancient Mew.

Grotenrath says he was happy to give it away to help Bryce smile again.

"It's a priceless item, but it's better to see someone else smile," he said. "And in my book, like my partner says, just happy to see a citizen smile instead of always frowning upon us and looking the other way."

As for the boy who nabbed Bryce's cards, he was given a "talking to," but no charges were filed.
