One Donkey Kong 64 Package
N64 owners may end up with extra Expansion Paks, as all copies of DK 64 will ship with the add-on.
Nintendo today confirmed with GameSpot News that there will only be one version of Donkey Kong 64 released in the US and that version will include the Expansion Pak. This means that gamers who have already purchased the add-on may end up with an extra unit. A spokesperson for Nintendo stated that Donkey Kong 64 "will be sold with the Expansion Pak included for a very competitive price (it won't cost more than Zelda). So basically, consumers will get the Expansion Pak for next to nothing."
The Expansion Pak currently retails for US$29.99 (a cheaper third-party version is also available for only $19.99), so it is quite interesting that Nintendo plans on the Pak being included for a "next to nothing" cost. Also interesting is that Nintendo seems to be disregarding current owners of the Expansion Pak - apparently the add-on hasn't achieved the desired market penetration Nintendo had hoped for.
Donkey Kong 64 will be released on November 22.
