One Of 2017's Best Games Comes To Nintendo Switch Soon
Night in the Woods arrives for Switch in February.
The critically acclaimed adventure game Night in the Woods is coming to Nintendo Switch, developer Infinite Fall announced on Twitter. The title is slated to arrive on Nintendo's console early next month, and it'll include new content from the game's definitive Weird Autumn edition.
Switch owners will be able to purchase Night in the Woods beginning February 1. Like other console versions, the game will run for $20. The Switch release also comes with the new side stories, dialogue, activities, and other content introduced in Weird Autumn, the director's cut-style update that released for other platforms last month. Night in the Woods earned one of GameSpot's Editor Spotlight Awards for 2017. The game first launched to critical acclaim for PS4 and PC last February and was subsequently released for Xbox One this past December. Critic Kallie Plagge awarded the title a 9 out of 10 in GameSpot's Night in the Woods review.
"Both intensely personal and widely relatable, Night in the Woods doesn’t just tell a story--it gracefully captures complex, often unpleasant feelings and experiences," Plagge wrote. "From the quiet melancholy of doing nothing on a rainy day to the emotional vacuum of severe depression, I felt deeply, sometimes too deeply, while wandering through the cartoon-animal version of a small Midwestern town. Its witty writing and character development keep its crushing existential themes grounded, making Night in the Woods one of the most evocative games I’ve played in a long time."
A number of other acclaimed indie games are also coming to Nintendo Switch very soon. The gothic RPG Darkest Dungeon is slated to release on the Eshop this week. Meanwhile, the ultra-challenging platformer Super Meat Boy recently launched for the system and has been selling extremely well already.
