Major League Baseball and Sony have officially announced MLB The Show 24, and confirmed that Vladimir Guerrero Jr. is on the cover. Once again, the game will see a multiplatform release despite being developed internally at PlayStation. If you're playing on Xbox, the game will launch day-one on Xbox Game Pass. This has been the case every year since MLB The Show 21 in 2021.

MLB The Show 24 will also come to Nintendo Switch, in addition to the usual PlayStation platforms. The game releases on March 19 across all platforms.

According to a report, it was Major League Baseball that requested the MLB The Show series expand to additional platforms. MLB The Show is not the only PlayStation game on Xbox, as the Destiny series--which is owned by Sony--is also on Xbox. Looking the other way around, Microsoft's Minecraft series is on PlayStation, as well as Xbox. Microsoft's Ghostwire: Tokyo and Psychonauts are also published on PlayStation.

Guerrero Jr. is the son of nine-time All-Star and Hall of Famer Vladimir Guerrero, who himself was on the cover of MLB The Show years ago.

Guerrero Jr. was informed that he would be the MLB The Show 24 cover star in December 2023. Remarking on seeing himself on the cover, he told ESPN, "When you see something like that, a lot of things cross through your mind from when you were little, playing PlayStation with your friends, with your family. You look up one moment and suddenly it's you on the cover. It's just a huge honor for me."

In terms of what's new in MLB The Show 24, Sony has not made any announcements as of yet, but fans can expect a drip-feed of new information in the coming weeks.
