One Person Is Waiting 72 Hours In Line To Buy The Legend Of Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom

A couple of other Nintendo superfans have apparently been waiting even longer in New York City too.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is arguably the biggest video game release of the year. You might even be taking off work or calling in sick this Friday to spend as much time in Hyrule as possible. But some people are already waiting in line to pick up the Switch exclusive.

Meet Alex "Captain Nintendo Dude" Pekala, a YouTube personality who's waiting 72 hours outside the Nintendo Store in New York City to purchase Tears of the Kingdom. According to Pekala's tweet, he started camping out for the release at 10 AM ET Tuesday, May 9, or 72 hours before he can pick up the game at the store. Nintendo Life also notes Pekala was first in line for the Nintendo Switch launch in 2017--along with Breath of the Wild.

In his latest YouTube vlog, Pekala revealed he isn't the first superfan already queued up for Tears of the Kingdom. According to Pekala, two men from Canada have already been waiting five days as of May 9, meaning they will ultimately be camping out for over a week to pick up Tears of the Kingdom.

Rest assured that these antics aren't necessary. Tears of the Kingdom will go live digitally at 9 PM PT on May 11, 12 AM ET on May 12. In fact, pre-loading has already begun for Link's newest adventure.

In the meantime, GameSpot has a Breath of the Wild recap video to prepare you for Tears of the Kingdom. In addition, Nintendo has finally confirmed Tears of the Kingdom will have dungeons.

This was a dumb thing to do even pre digital release era. In this day and age...what was just dumb before is now complete brain death. Like...why even?

My local gamestop is having a midnight release. First midnight release I'll be going to since GTA V on 360. The real struggle is staying up for that long I'm old

With how badly Nintendo treats it's fans, I don't see why people are this fanatical towards them.

Good for them. For me however, in this day and age, I can't imagine buying physical copies of games. The whole thought of actually getting up and walking over to the console to put a disc in or switch games... ugh, it makes me sick!

My life requires too much energy as it is and I appreciate the small lazy kindness of my digital catalog 🤷🏻‍♀️

Same guy who waited 30 days in line for the switch at this Nintendo store and guess what, they were actually very wholesome videos/blogs showing a community coke together so I’m happy to see him back at it.

He looks exactly like someone you would expect to do this.

A vlog… Seriously?

“Hey guys. Here I am. Waiting in line for something I could’ve ordered online and either had delivered to me, or that allowed me to do a quick in-store pickup… So. Umm… Not much going on. Just me sitting in a line for 3 days, because I don’t have a job and I’m using my allowance from my parents… So. Umm… Yeah…”

I'm sure he'll have a great tale to tell to all his friends. They'll be looking forward to all the letters coming to their actual doorsteps.
