Owen Wilson and Ed Helms Try to Find Their Dad in First "Bastards" Trailer

"There is no way those two jackasses are my kids. They look like a couple of dickheads."

Warner Bros. has released the first trailer for Bastards, the R-rated Owen Wilson and Ed Helms comedy about two brothers who go on a road trip to find their real dad.

Their mother, played by Oscar-nominee Gleen Close, tells them their father died when they were young. This isn't actually true, however. On their quest to find their biological father, possible daddies played by J.K. Simmons, NFL Hall of Famer Terry Bradshaw, and Ving Rhames tell them more about their mom than they probably ever wanted to know. Here's the trailer:

Apparently still channeling his rage from Whiplash, Simmons barks, "There is no way those two jackasses are my kids. They look like a couple of dickheads." Bradshaw, who plays himself in the movie, jokes that spending time with the brothers' mother almost cost his team a Super Bowl victory. As for Rhames, his character goes into graphic detail about what he did with their mom, but then pulls it back to say, "All we did was cuddle."

It remains to be seen who their biological father is. But you can imagine the movie may end with the brothers discovering it doesn't really matter if they're happy with their lives.

Katt Williams also has a part in the movie, playing a hitchhiker who comes along for the ride. There's a bit of action in the trailer, too, as the trio narrowly escape a horrible death by train.

Lawrence Sher makes his directorial debut with Bastards, from a script written by Bad Teacher 2's Justin Malen. Though this is his first directing job, Sher is no stranger to comedies. He was the director of photography for all the Hangover movies, as well as the recent Jonah Hill-Miles Teller movie War Dogs.

Bastards is slated for release on January 27, 2017.
