Paper Mario: The Origami King Comes To Switch Very Soon
Paper Mario: The Origami King for Nintendo Switch got an unexpected reveal, and it's out very soon.
Nintendo surprised Paper Mario fans with an unexpected game announcement on May 14. Paper Mario: The Origami King releases for Switch on July 17, and the news comes with a debut trailer that you can watch right here. As with the other entries in the series, it's developed by the veterans at Intelligent Systems.
Featuring a new ring-based battle system that mixes puzzle-solving skills with traditional turn-based combat, Paper Mario: The Origami King aims to put new twists in the series' established formula.
Princess Peach is acting strangely, and the game's papercraft world has fallen into disarray because of a malicious figure named King Olly. Even Bowser's own minions are forced to work for the new monarch. Bowser isn't having that, so he's even offered his assistance to Mario.
Mario has plenty of tools to help him take back the kingdom, however, including a "1000-Fold Arms" move for stretching out and manipulating the environment. With allies to recruit and plenty of mysteries to solve, it's shaping up to be a return to form for a series that disappointed in 2016 with the Wii U's Paper Mario: Color Splash. Our Paper Mario: Color Splash review appreciated the charming visuals but found the puzzle-solving mechanics too watered-down for their own good.
