Paragon Monolith Update Released: New Map, Major Overhaul
Epic's monolithic update to Paragon, and other superlatives.
Paragon, Epic’s strikingly beautiful action-MOBA, has been overhauled in the Monolith update, announced last month.

According to lead hero designer Cameron Winston in the trailer for the update, “the Monolith Update is not just a new map, it’s actually a new gameplay experience.” The attached blog post backs that up, claiming it has “faster, more action-oriented gameplay, but still a MOBA,” and includes updates for every single hero in the game.
“We want to more solidly deliver on the promise of what we felt Paragon should be,” reads the blog post. “Gameplay is faster. Specifically, we’re talking about faster movement speed, ability and attack execution speed, and overall game lethality.”
Some highlights from the patch notes:
- The original map (now dubbed “Legacy”), has been disabled in favor of the new asymmetrical map Monolith
- Hero Kills no longer drop CP on the ground - CP is awarded to kills/assists directly
- Buffs are no longer dropped - they now fly towards the last hitter of the buff minion
- All damage now scales, with a new card stat called “Power”
- A whole bunch of hero updates, oh gosh there are so many

“If you’re a prior player,” implored Winston, “and if Paragon wasn’t everything you hoped it would be, leave all of your expectations at the door and walk into it with fresh eyes.”
