Paranormal Activity 7 On The Way From Underwater Director And Happy Death Day Writer
The next movie in the found footage horror series releases in March 2022.
The next Paranormal Activity movie has found its director and writer. The seventh film in the hugely successful found footage horror franchise will be directed by Will Eubank (Underwater) and written by Christopher Landon (Happy Death Day, Freaky).
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Paranormal Activity 7 will hit theaters on March 4, 2022. Prior to writing and directing the two Happy Death Day movies, Landon wrote or co-wrote four of the previous Paranormal Activity movies, as well as directing the fourth, 2014's Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones. Eubank helmed last year's aquatic monster movie Underwater, plus the indie sci-fi films The Signal and Love.
The next Paranormal Activity movie will be produced by franchise creator Oren Peli and Blumhouse boss Jason Blum, who have collaborated on every movie in the series so far. While no plot details have been released yet, THR states that it will retain the found-footage format of all the previous movies.
The most recent entry was 2015's Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension. Although the film was the lowest grossing in the series so far, it still grossed $78.9 million worldwide from a reported production budget of $10 million. Paranormal Activity is one of several big horror series getting new movies over the next couple of years. Blumhouse will release Halloween Kills in October, while the much-anticipated Scream arrives in January 2022. There are also new movies in the Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Saw, and Candyman franchises due later in 2021.
