Whilst American Xbox users have been enjoying a vast amount of movies via the video marketplace and, most recently, via the Netflix service, UK Xbox owners have had to put up with a much smaller selection, though Microsoft's head of gaming and entertainment, Stephen McGill, promised that more would be added.
That's right, Pathé movies are that exciting, kids.
Today, UK film buffs will be able to enjoy a greater selection thanks to Warner Brothers, which is bringing Pathé movies to the video marketplace. Pathé has been behind many critically acclaimed films, including docu-drama Touching the Void and claymation hit Chicken Run. It's not clear how many of Pathé's films will be making it to the service, but recent smash Slumdog Millionaire will be available.
Pathé films will be available in HD alongside existing films from Paramount, MGM, and Universal Studios, with only Sony Pictures--of the major studios--now being absent from the selection. The new releases will follow existing pricing, with standard-definition films costing 360 MS Points (£3.00) and HD films 540 MS Points (£4.50).
