For me, Uncharted 4 was the best in the series (Uncharted 2 was a close second). Overwatch is crap. Just because something is popular doesn't mean it's good. Doom was fun, Well, the campaign was anyways. Multiplayer was kinda meh. Doing The Carlton over someone's body was hilarious though.

No surprise as Gamespot is predominantly visited by ps fans. UC 4 is certainly not the best game this year.

Uncharted 4 was my vote as well, but I would have voted Witcher 3's Blood And Wine had it been an option!

Unchatered 4, great game but to much 'move crate on wheels' or 'ow look ancient cave, how do I get up that 8 foot wall? Lucky for me a lone box was left to use as a hop up'

This just shows that Overwatch is not as beloved as critics wants to make us believe. Happy that Uncharted 4 won.

@JohnyMyko: This just shows that all the people who got Overwatch are too busy playing it to vote here. ;)

@JohnyMyko: And it also shows that "Uncharted 4" isn't as beloved as its proponents claim it is, either.

Not even the 2nd best Uncharted game. I guess the series can do no wrong for others.

I would've gone with Final Fantasy XV or Dark Souls III, but hey, Uncharted's still great. It had it all, a great cast of characters, a stunning single player experience with fast, fluid, "raw" gameplay and a great and ever expanding multiplayer.

What did Overwatch have? An overrated multiplayer with generic cartoon characters that they tried to flesh out with animated shorts.

Personally, Uncharted 4, while great, I don't think it measured up to UC3. Personal opinion there. While there was a good family dynamic now, I actually think with him being married, a kid, etc, that it took away from what made him a dynamic playboy character. The ending for UC4 just left me wanting more than what they gave us. It's a great game, don't get me wrong, but not the best UC game made. That goes to 3. Easily.

Also, if you haven't tried it, Hyper Light Drifter is pretty awesome. So is Inside and Thumper is surprisingly addicting. As far as this list goes I'd have to say that DOOM is, by far, the best experience on any platform. It has a rock solid single player campaign, the MP is off the hook and SnapMap is amazingly easy to use. There's no previous game from DOOM that even measures up to how excellent it is. It's just so damn fun.

@naomha1: My opinion here... the 3rd was the worst of the 4... 2nd being the best, and then 4 next. Not disrespecting your opinion though.

MEDIOCRE!! Sorry--just couldn't help myself.

(If anyone has slogged through the big-budget names on this sad little list and find themselves in need of something a little less..."meh," do try the likes of Owlboy, Hyper Light Drifter, Stardew Valley, and Quadrilateral Cowboy. If nothing else, they may serve as a reminder that "fun" is not a four-letter-word.)

@yeknomdab: I do play some indies and "pocket" games (like Pokemon for example) myself, but i don't normally compare them to games like Uncharted 4, The Witcher 3, Deus Ex, Final Fantasy XV, Bloodborne, to give just a few fairly recent examples. I just can't, it's a whole other level of immersion and enjoyment and a far richer experience for me in the end.

@joshrmeyer: Along with GameFaqs, you know we're the largest gaming site on the Internet, right? IGN (with its wiki guides content thrown in) trails us by more than a few million monthly visitors.

In general, comments for us only represent about 1% of the traffic for a story--lots of reasons for that, partially that it's harder than it used to be to just leave a generic comment and you have to be signed in...there are quite a few hurdles. But in general, the conversations have just shifted to other platforms like Twitter and Facebook.

Voting for this felt a little low, but I attribute a bit of that to coming up during the holiday.

@Prats1993: I can't blame Naughty Dog. It becomes so hard to make a game look and feel good after so many other games before it that have been created. There is a lack of ideas, creativity, new variety of game mechanics, interesting plot etc. If Uncharted 2 was a completely different game, then I'm sure Naughty Dog would have been able to make Uncharted 4 at least 10 times better than the original UC2. See, people talk shit about UC4 without ever wondering about the difficulties of the developer. I'm quite proud of Naughty Dog was able to produce despite the many obstacles they faced.

No other game studio would have been able to do so like they did.

So I thought about this a long time. How did Overwatch get game of the year? Why not uncharted 4?

So of course a lot of people were disappointed with Overwatch winning GOTY, from uncharted 4 supporters (not fanboys.. show some respect :) ) to other video game players that were against a multiplayer game like overwatch winning GOTY. But hopefully, I can explain why Overwatch won GOTY. Just think about the title "Game of the year". What does it really mean? The "game" of the year. A game that stands out from the rest of the game in some way.

Sure Uncharted 4 was excellently crafted and created but it wasn't something "new" or "mind-blowing". If Uncharted 4 was capable of redefining the entire Uncharted series and could somehow surprise players by its massive potential, it probably would have won GOTY. But instead, it was more of a refinement, a send-off to Nathan Drake and to the world of Uncharted, so obviously, nothing in it was "revolutionary", same old game mechanics, polished to insane levels. Despite this it definitely is an amazing and I do encourage PS4 players to buy it.

Overwatch on the other hard, was something "new" I guess. It took mainstream FPS games to a whole new level, that was unique and most of all, fun, as said by many people. It instantly caught peoples' attention in which Uncharted 4 could not. It became one of the top streamed game on twitch, followed by a lot of popularity and support. I'm not sure whether I agree with this but many people did say Overwatch managed to get many elements from other FPSs and popular games like TF2 and managed to create something immerse and new that people though really "stood out" from other games this year.

So to wrap up, the main thing that set Uncharted 4 and Overwatch apart was their sense of uniqueness and freshness, and how much they managed to stand out from other mainstream games. Both these games are amazing, and I love them both. But I'm just gonna say it as well, I don't think Overwatch is worth the money u pay for it, I would probs pay make $35 for it.

@kikirevi: Yeah, there are a lot of overwatch fanboys who barely played other games and just think that Overwatch is the best game ever. Come on fanboys, you are degrading overwatch into something like CoD.

Most people defending Overwatch are using some of the MOST LAME excuses ever. (It's Fun, so it is the best game of the year.) WHY DON'T YOU TELL ME WHY IT IS FUN? Describe more about the game.

It is so unfair nowdays that gamers are getting worse and being just content with Multiplayer-only games when other devs develop some EPIC single player games (that kids nowdays are too dumb to understand the story, music, or character developments) but not get enough positive feedbacks.

Overwatch is not a bad game, but why don't people complain that Blizzard did NOT even bother to give us a single (and/or Co-op) campaign? HUH??? Is it because you are blizzard fanboys and it is ok for blizzard to be LAZY?

i didn't really get into uncharted 1-3. they really didn't capture me. uncharted 4 did capture me. It was a very very good movie-like game. the story was better than most of the movies i saw in 2016. Action sequences were plot out nicely. Emotional touches were nice too.

I bought overwatch on sale for ~40$ for PC. played 20 minutes and haven't touched it since. I felt like i wasted my money. I felt CSGO (competitive mode) is way more polished game than overwatch.

@amiabilita: Yeah, I don't know why but I found CSGO more entertaining than overwatch. Just got my adrenaline flowing and made me so immersed it in it, and if u manage to clutch or get a kill streak it feels so damn good..

@NBKNAS: lol, at least it was advertised as cinematic game, unlike overwatch that everything cool came from the pixar quality videos, that do not represent in any way the game....

Aside 2nd place with all that hype, by twice the votes, nonetheless... sad really

To be honest i would have liked Doom to get it, but im man enough to accept that last of us or uncharted are masterpieces....

@Areposo: I agree that Uncharted was the better game as it fits many aspects that many enjoy. I am not in the majority here. However, I know for a fact that I'd still be playing Overwatch 3 years from now and I won't with the other games.
