Percy Jackson Author Wants Disney+ To Play A Blank Screen For Two Hours Instead Of The Movie

If you have Disney+, you can watch the Percy Jackson movies, even if the author of the books truly despises the adaptations.

It's no secret that at times, authors don't like the film adaptations of their work. And Percy Jackson author Rick Riordan has been very vocal about this over the years. Now with the Percy Jackson movies on Disney+, Riordan is responding pretty comically to people watching the movie.

On Twitter, someone was complaining that Disney+ was censoring The Lighting Thief by skipping a sequence where the characters eat some flowers, hallucinate, and hang out in a casino while Lady Gaga's "Poker Face" plays. Author Riordan had quite the comical response.

The scene in question was not censored on Disney+. GameSpot had no issue playing the sequence at the 1 hour and 13 minute mark on both desktop and android. Although, if you're Riordan, you'd rather just see a blank screen for the length of the movie.

Back in 2016, Riordan wrote a letter to teachers pleading to not show the 2010 movie or its 2013 sequel in classrooms. Riordan is a former middle school teacher himself and said, "I would rather have my teeth pulled with no anesthesia" rather than watch the movies because they have no educational value to them.

However, in early May, Riordan seemed much happier when he and wife Becky announced that Percy Jackson will be adapted as a TV series on Disney+. His Percy Jackson & The Olympians book series kicked off in 2005 with The Lightning Thief. Five books were published in total, and the series remained on the New York Times Best Sellers: Children's Series Books for 245 weeks, an outstanding accomplishment.

If you're looking for something to watch while you wait around for the new Percy Jackson series, consider listening to GameSpot's weekly TV series and movies-focused podcast, You Should Be Watching.
