Sonic Team has announced that it will delay the release of Phantasy Star Online Version 2 for the Sega Dreamcast. The company said that it requires more time to further polish the game in general in order to satisfy the consumers. The release has been pushed back two weeks. It is now scheduled for May 31 for 4,800 yen (about US$39) in Japan. A North American release date hasn't been announced.

On a related note, Sega officially unveiled the game at its Game Jam event in Japan. GameSpot has extensive video footage from the event--linked below--that shows off such new gameplay elements as the lobby soccer game, new weapons and items, and the multiplayer battle mode.
