Pikmin, Olimar confirmed for new Smash Bros.
Nintendo reveals Captain Olimar and plant-like minions will return for upcoming Wii U and 3DS fighting game.
Nintendo has confirmed that Captain Olimar and his loyal suite of Pikmin followers will be playable in 2014's Super Smash Bros. game for Wii U and 3DS.
The news was confirmed on the game's website via new screenshots. The images show Olimar hurling his plant-like minions at enemies, though no firm details on character-specific abilities were divulged.
New characters confirmed thus far for the game are Mega-Man, Wii Fit Trainer, and Villager. Series mainstays like Mario, Donkey Kong, Link, Fox, and Pikachu will also appear in the game.
Olimar and Pikmin made their Smash Bros. debut in 2008's Super Smash Bros. Brawl, which has sold 11.49 million copies to date.
The untitled Super Smash Bros. game for Wii U and 3DS will launch in 2014 with no support for cross-platform play. For more, check out GameSpot's interview with designer Masahiro Sakurai.
