Pinball FX 2 outed by Aussies

Australian classifications board reveals online-enabled pinball sequel from Zen Studios.

In 2007, Hungarian developer Zen Studios released the first and only Xbox Live Arcade pinball game, Pinball FX. The game has entertained users with numerous batches of content since being released, including the most recent Excalibur table. But if an Australian classifications office listing is correct, the studio is crafting a sequel.

The Australian ratings board didn't ban this one.

Australia's Office of Film and Literature Classification has posted a rating for Pinball FX 2. The entry lists Microsoft as the game's publisher, but neither Microsoft nor Zen Studios have officially mentioned the project. As of press time, Microsoft has not responded to GameSpot's request for comment or clarification on the matter.

Unfortunately, the OFLC entry provides nothing in the way of gameplay details on Pinball FX2. However, the classification did reveal that the game will be online enabled, and multiplatform. The original Pinball FX was an Xbox 360 exclusive.

Zen Studios' recently developed games include the Nintendo DS version of Ghostbusters: The Video Game and the PlayStation Network exclusives Zen Pinball and Planet Minigolf.

For more on the original Pinball FX, check out GameSpot's review.

Multi-Platform, huh? I know the announcement is not official yet, but it would be nice if there was a Wii version too. I have a PS3 and XBox 360 as well, but I really liked using the Remote and Nunchuk in the Wii pinball games.

I liked the first game except for the lack of multiplayer. What's pinball without multiplayer?!

Playing 4 player on the 1st game was great fun and getting in the top 10 for the rocky and bullwinkle table was pretty sweet too. Hope this will be a respectable upgrade.

Ive spent many hours playing this game, The ball physics are a bit dodgey but if you liked playing pinball when you where a kid or if you had one of those little pinball wizards too you will love this game, I personally look forward to the sequel. Austrailian goverment sucks horse she.

When I read the headline I thought this was going to be another "Australia bans another game" article. I was about to be like "Pinball? Really? WTF?"

This game is most likely an Xbox 360 exclusive. The OFLC lists a lot of platform exclusive games as "multi platform" for who knows what reason (such as Monster Hunter Tri, among many others). The OFLC entry specifies that Microsoft is the applicant/publisher of the title, so it is very unlikely that this'll wind up on other platforms (with the possible exception of PC).

Umm. Isn't it better just release new tables? Pinball will never have any significantly improved control scheme changes anyway, so why bother?
