Chris Evans stars as Buzz Lightyear in the upcoming Pixar movie, which releases in June 2022.

The first trailer for Lightyear is here. Pixar's spin-off from the Toy Story series hits theaters on June 17, 2022.

The Lightyear trailer contains very little dialogue and doesn't give too much away about the plot, but it definitely sets the tone for this interstellar adventure. The movie focuses on the "real" Buzz Lightyear--as opposed to the doll version from the Toy Story films. It's an origin story, that reveals how a young test pilot with big dreams about exploring the universe becomes the world-famous Space Ranger.

The trailer intercuts scenes of Buzz on Earth, looking wistfully at the stars, with footage of him blasting through space and landing on an alien planet, set to the evocative strains of David Bowie's classic song "Starman." It looks as beautifully animated as you'd expect and should be an exciting new chapter in this long-running franchise. Check the trailer out below:

Only one of Lightyear's voicecast has been announced so far--Captain America star Chris Evans, who takes on the lead role. The movie is directed by Angus MacLane. Although the film is MacLane's feature directing debut, he's worked as an animator on many previous Pixar movies, including Toy Story 2 and 3, and WALL-E. MacLane also directed the Pixar short films Toy Story of Terror and BURN-E.

Lightyear will be Pixar's second movie of 2022. Turning Red releases in March, and focuses on a girl who transforms into a giant red panda when she gets stressed or excited. Check out the first Turning Red trailer here.

Coming from someone who had no idea about this, I find it misleading that they just happened to have almost no dialogue in the teaser, as I'd to let people believe it's still Tim Allen.
