EA games launching first through EA Access is standard procedure. Before this, the most recent game to debut on EA Access before its commercial release was DICE's Star Wars Battlefront.
In the past, the pre-release play periods were limited to 6-10 hours, though EA has not yet provided any specifics on the duration for Unravel, Garden Warfare 2, and EA Sports UFC 2. We'll share those details with you when they are made available.
EA Access is currently available only on Xbox One, though the subscription service has not been ruled out for PS4. You can sign up for $5/month or $30/year.
In addition to getting to play upcoming EA games ahead of time, other benefits include a 10-percent discount on all EA digital content and access to a "The Vault," a growing library of free games. Right now, there are more than a dozen games available, and EA has pledged never to remove any of them.
