Playing Tekken Tag Tournament
Arcade-addicted editor takes the latest Tekken for a spin. What can gamers expect? Read on.
Last Thursday Tekken Tag Tournament was discretely put on test at Namco's Wonder Park arcade in Milpitas, Calif.
The title of the game alludes to its newest and most significant feature, a fifth button that lets players swap characters during a fight. It works almost exactly like the tagging-out action in Marvel vs. Capcom in that you select two characters at the selection screen and can change at any moment. The one difference, however, is that both characters share only one life bar.
The game currently has 20 playable characters, which consist mostly of characters from Tekken 3: Paul, Jin, and Yoshimitsu. Four of the playable characters are from Tekken 2: Jun, Baek, Michelle, and Ganruyu. And as a bonus, each of the Tekken 2 characters has a ton of never-before-seen moves.
Although 20 characters are playable now, twelve question marks are on the character-select screen hiding the faces of other characters. The game is said to be currently around 50 percent complete. We'll have more on Tekken Tag Tournament in the coming weeks, so keep checking.
