PlayStation Plus Free Games For March 2025 Include Dragon Age: The Veilguard, Live Now

Here's what PS Plus subscribers can play in March.

PlayStation has released this month's batch of free games for PlayStation Plus subscribers. All PS Plus members can claim a trio of freebies starting March 4: Dragon Age: The Veilguard, Sonic Colors: Ultimate, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Cowabunga Collection.

Dragon Age: The Veilguard is the headliner here, as the game was released back in October 2024. BioWare's return to its single-player roots, The Veilguard earned mostly positive reviews but sales did fail to meet EA's expectations. For anyone looking to finally check it out, people have raved about the vibrant land of Thedas in this game, the colorful cast of characters, and satisfying combat mechanics.

On the retro side, Sonic Colors: Ultimate is a great game for fans of Sega's Blue Blur. This is a remastered version of the 2010 game that was originally released for the Nintendo Wii, and it introduced a power-up system through the alien Wisp creatures that made gameplay very exciting.

Finally, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Cowabunga Collection is a treasure trove of the classic TMNT games published by Konami in the '80s and '90s. It includes fan-favorite games such as Turtles in Time and Tournament Fighters, as well as the infamous NES game in case you want to relive the horrible underwater levels.

Each game has been updated with quality-of-life features such as save states, rewinding, and custom button layouts, and some of them feature local and online co-op play. There's even an entire digital museum of development art and concept sketches that you can unlock.

Surprisingly, this sounds like the best line up in a long time. A relatively new game from a good publisher is always nice. And these classics sound pretty good as well, especially getting an entire collection as just one of the games.

Personally, I was relieved to not see a $5 indie game for a change. I hardly ever find any of those worth playing, they seem like filler.

Not that there aren't some good cheap games out there. Heroes of Monkey Tavern was a nastolgic throwback and made for an enjoyable weekend for $1.99.

I never played the TMNT games so this might be the time to try them out. The point being that they are not indie games and at least one was probably well received in their era.

Here's hoping for more months like this!

@r_brooks4032: Turtles in Time ate many a quarter back when Arcades were a thing.

Other DA games been real good, chocked to see a new game like this to come on ps+ freebies. I almost bought it on sale on my series x, glad I didn't. Don't care about the hate going on, I'm gonna play this.

Double dagger in the chest after paying full price for this stinker at release. Thought maybe it was still a decent Dragon Age game and people were using it as a battleground for social stuff. Nope, it really was taking everything cool about DA:O and doing the opposite.

At least Sonic Colors was fun and TMNT arcade is legendary!

@faithxvoid: Well to be honest most Bioware fans of old

knew there was no chance the game wouldnt be eff'd.

That company is Bioware in name only.

New Mass Effect will be the exact same mediocre crappycrap.

@CIA_BOSS: yup.

even not free 'free' is too much when i could be playing anything else.

I did enjoy the Talking Gun game last month although it got boring & lame 1/2 way through.

Holy shit. This just confirms that it actually was an utter fucking failure.

Surely this isn't the fastest that a AAA game has gone onto PS+ for free, is it? Jesus

Wow, I'm glad I waited on the Veilguard. I'm not expecting greatness, but am hoping it's pretty solid

@Jendeh: I hated it personally. But I was a big fan of the old ones, and the wacky humour and “modern themes” along with the overly flashy presentation really bored me. Everyone is different though, so I hope you like it 😊

While the writing in Dragon Age: The Veilguard was truly awful, the combat was well done and a lot of fun. I enjoyed it enough to get the platinum trophy. I do rank it dead last in the series, as far as story goes. Gameplay wise, though, I’d put it in second place. I still prefer the more tactical gameplay of the first game. It’s certainly not the bad game that people who haven’t even played it keep swearing it is.

@stickemup: I enjoyed it quite a bit. Can't beat Origins. I do think it has the best combat and is my second favorite overall. On consoles, this franchise always leaned toward more action combat and it is finally fully realized here.

DA II is the worst. It tried to be mature by splattering blood all over the characters. The environments were awful. Veilguard looks awsome to me. I prefer the everyone is nice, just misunderstood story beats, then let's be mature, like what a 10-year-old thinks is mature. Inquisition is my most played Playstation game to this day. I grew to hate the combat and soured on the game in the end.

@swiller: DA2~ You didn't play DA2 long enough Swiller.

I know this cause the games economy is 100% BROKEN!

~In any area you enter theres a merchant who sells say a ring for $100k well that whole area only has about $70k of money available.

AND that's 1 ring/1 item for only 1 character..

Thankfuly theres that Dupe Glitch. and i put my own rules on it.

play on hardest but a merchant is considered=rewards=balance.

~the loudest complaint was it reused the same area from act 1 for act 2. This didn't bother me.

The biggest crime is the money/economy & the lame writing that ignored the characters from 1st game like Logain & Morgath King allastair etc.....

~~DA2 is better then Inquisition but thats not saying much & everything is better then Veilgard.

I'd say give it another shot on harder w/ dupe glitch and it's fun.

esp one of the DLC.

@stickemup: Most people who bash games never play them. I love it when the player score on metacritic is in the tank before the game even comes out. See also comments being full of "How can this game be a [number]?" when the review hits three days before release.

So far, with you though. Haven't finished it, but it ain't origins. But then, what is? I think GS's seven, "good," was about right. Not great, not bad.

@olddadgamer: Actually, GameSpot gave it an 8 or “Great.” I think it’s more of a 7, too.

@stickemup: Alternate POV~ If a Elder Scrolls comes out hot garbage like Starfield did or a Star Wrs movie like sequels did

and those are a '7'. Thats really a total fail cause 7 of those points are just for existing as that IP/title.

So any effort woulda pushed dragon age into the 8-10 and this didn't happen..

Between the greed of publishers & rushing Developers to

politics in games and titles like this are DOA.

@dmblum1799: Yup. It's solid. It's better than I thought it would be, actually. A masterpiece? No. Worth playing? Yes.

Also, as someone who is knee deep in it, anyone saying it pushes any sort of agenda hasn't played it. Don't want your character to be trans? OK. Mine isn't. The only "agenda" I've seen is "Follow the very hand-holdy quest markers and whack bad guys to bits."

@olddadgamer: the fate of the game was decided months before anyone played it.

it literally says in the dialogue cutscene if you don’t pick this It won’t be brought up again. And the story about the Non-binary wasn’t about being non-binary. They just wanted to move to the city and wear fancy clothes.

@greatquantum: Well, amongst people who follow game sites. I think, too, EA didn't market it worth anything. When I picked up my copy, three employees at Best Buy had never heard of it. Radioed back to see if "Dragon Age Vanguard" was in stock. Relying on people remembering a ten year old game isn't good marketing, and, while WE remember ten year old games, the VAST majority of people who do not follow game sites do not. You gotta sell to those people if you're going to sell enough games, and I don't think EA did a good job of that.

Wow that was quick! Wonder how many people STILL won't try it for basically "free"? I already own the Cowabunga collection, but I've never played Sonic Colors so I'll give that one a go for sure.

@stickemup: gameplay wasn’t as bad to be honest, if it were another game instead of a fortnite clone with Arkham mechanics maybe it would’ve been a decent game, but yeah, as a whole it sucked ass, Veilguard is no different from what I’ve heard, we just need for them to add Dustborn to the Essentials Catalog and we’re golden
