Sony has announced that it'll be pushing out a new update later today for the PlayStation Portal remote player. The new update will focus on the Cloud Streaming Beta feature.

Players will now be able to utilize the Create button just like they would on a PS5 DualSense controller when cloud streaming select games from the PS Plus Catalog. Pressing it once opens up the create menu, holding it down takes a screenshot, and pressing it twice enables video recordings.

Gameplay will now pause during cloud streaming sessions when players open up the PS Portal quick menu and also when a system error message is displayed at the bottom of the screen. It will also pause if the Portal is put into rest mode. However, if it's in rest mode for more than 15 seconds, the cloud streaming session will be disconnected. Players will also be notified when a session is about to close after 10 minutes of inactivity.

When the streaming server is full, players can now queue up in line to get in. A screen will show the estimated wait time and the game session will automatically start when there's more room.

Lastly, players can now sort eligible games in the PS Plus Catalog by recently added, name, and release date.

PlayStation Portal has been improving steadily since its launch in 2023. Last year, it was updated to offer the ability to play in more places with better public Wi-Fi. The device could only initially act as a Remote Play device for PS5, but it can now stream games from the cloud.

Sony is also reportedly working on a new PS5 portable system to compete against Switch 2 and Steam Deck.
