If you hadn't noticed, it is no longer 2017. And you know what that means: cheap video games! To celebrate the new year, Nintendo UK is discounting a number of Eshop titles on both Switch and 3DS.

Some big Switch games are included in the Happy New Year sale, including Nintendo's fighting game, Arms, which is 20% off at £40. 1-2-Switch, meanwhile, is down to £28--a 30% reduction on the standard Eshop price. More Switch games on offer include NBA 2K18 (£35.74), Flip Wars (£6.29), LA Noire (£33.74), WWE 2K18 (£33), and SteamWorld Dig 2 (£11). Plenty more titles are discounted in the sale; take a look at the full list here.

On 3DS, the games on offer include Metroid: Samus Returns (£28), Super Mario Maker (£24.49), Mario Kart 7 (£28), The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past (£11.19), and Super Smash Bros. (£28). Check out the rest of the discounted 3DS games--as well as some cheap Wii U titles--here.

The New Year sale comes as the Eshop adds five new Switch games. This week's new titles are King of the Monsters, Stikbold: A Dodgeball Adventure Deluxe, Pic-a-Pix Deluxe, Grand Prix Rock 'N Racing, and Azkend 2: The World Beneath. Nintendo has also announced that the Switch is the best-selling games console ever in the US during the first 10 months on sale. This means the hybrid device has surpassed the previous record holder, the Wii.

Are you planning on picking up any games in the Eshop sale? Let us know in the comments below.

A link to the past on 3DS £12 . . . Yer great sale there Ninty -_- not like you have already over charged for that game like a million times on every console you have ever released but sure xD no wonder it’s always Nintendo consoles that are so heavily pirated =/ sales are cheap to help gamers who can’t really justify spending full price or to maybe help get people into a series also to help move copies of a game no one is buying at full price anymore because they are on the fence bringing them down the physical launch price months/year after release is not a sale

I get that you guys think the quality of your game is worth the full price but surely your first obligation is to get as many of these games into the hands of your audience, hell the only reason I’m into Metroid is because toys r us UK were selling a GameCube memory card (one of the 3rd party ones with massive storage) that normally sold at £40 with Metroid prime for free so was like why not and guess what ever since then I have purchased every released Metroid title . . . Also cheap games help children who can’t afford to buy every AAA release new =/

Really doesn't matter when your game goes on sale if the original price is the GDP of a small nation.

It's strange seeing games on sale that are still £30+
