Pokemon Go: More Creatures Arrive Alongside Holiday Event
Catch a festive hat-wearing Pikachu.
As rumored, Pokemon Go has added new creatures. New Pokemon that arrived in the mobile game today, December 12, include Togepi and Pichu, as well as "select" ones from Pokemon Gold/Silver.
You can acquire these creatures by visiting PokeStops to collect Eggs that can hatch into them. In a statement today, developer Niantic teased that these are only the "first" of more Pokemon coming to Pokemon Go in the next few months.
Additionally, Pokemon Go has added a holiday update that introduces a version of Pikachu who is wearing a festive hat. You may not have trouble adding the creature to your Pokedex, as Niantic says they will appear in "large quantities" now until the event wraps up on December 29.
"As we race toward 2017, we can't help but feel grateful for the support and reaction the Pokemon Go community has given us, and we're delighted to start rolling out select Pokemon for them to hatch," Niantic director of product Kei Kawai said in a statement.
In other news about Pokemon Go, the game's Nearby feature has expanded yet again and is now available in most regions around the world where the game is available. Additionally, thousands of Starbucks locations in the US are now sponsored PokeStops and Gyms.
