Pokemon Of The Year Voting To Crown Best Pocket Monster
One winner, 889 runners-up.
The Pokemon Company has introduced almost a thousand monsters over the series' long history, but which one is the very best? That's up to fans to decide, with the first ever "Pokemon of the Year" competition. You can cast your votes every day through February 14.
The competition is being tracked through Google, so you can participate by simply searching for "Pokemon Vote." That will take you to the search results with a dedicated voting box split into eight categories--one for each region. You can actually cast eight separate votes per day, one per category. Each Pokemon's region classification is based on the National Pokedex number, even if they have regional alternate forms.
Voting will close at 5:59 AM PT on February 14. The Pokemon Company didn't detail plans to announce the winner and several hundred losers, but the announcement was in the context of Pokemon Day festivities on February 27, so that date is likely. Go and exercise democracy by voting for Squirtle like a refined and intelligent person.
This is just one of several events planned around Pokemon Day. Pokemon Go is getting its own dedicated events, Pokemon Sword and Shield will get special Max Raid battles, and an update is coming to Pokemon Masters. The announcement also noted that the movie Pokemon: Mewtwo Strikes Back - Evolution will launch on Netflix that day.
