Pokemon Original Card Game Getting Re-Release in Japan

The very first set of Pokemon trading cards will be re-released in Japan in February to celebrate the franchise's 20th anniversary, The Pokemon Company has announced. Japanese fans can buy the base set on February 27, 2016 through a 60-card pack that also features a manual and coin (via Polygon).

The cards' designs will be exactly as you remember them from two decades ago. They'll be available in the island nation for ¥1,300, which is about $10. A play mat will be sold separately for ¥5,000 yen (about $40).

This is just one part of The Pokemon Company's celebration of the Pokemon franchise's 20th anniversary. The original Pokemon Red, Yellow, and Blue games are being re-release through the eShop, while Japanese gamers will be able to buy special-edition, retro-looking 2DS systems themed around Pokemon.

There is no word yet if the original Pokemon cards or special 2DS systems will be released in the west.
