You can display QR codes for any Pokemon you've already caught and share them with other players.

Pokemon Sun and Moon's Legendaries and gameplay were revealed today, and now we know the details of the announced QR code feature, thanks to the game's official website. The 3DS uses its built-in camera to scan the codes, which then give you information about Pokemon via your in-game Pokedex.

The QR code scanner can be used to find out where Pokemon live in the Alola region. This can be useful for players who haven't yet caught the scanned Pokemon and need to find out where to look for them. QR codes can be shared, as you're able to display the code of any Pokemon you've already caught for other players to see.
