Post Malone Now Holds The One Ring Of Power Magic: The Gathering Card

Go flex.

How much is one of the rarest cards in Magic: The Gathering worth? If you're a rapper with enough capital, at least $2 million, apparently. That's the astonishing sum that Magic's Lord of the Rings card, The One Ring, was valued at, and it's now in the hands of Post Malone.

Malone recently purchased the card for an undisclosed amount, relieving its original owner of the heavy responsibility of safeguarding it from dark forces, or at the very least, preventing it from becoming a piece of fashionable jewelry worn around the neck of YouTuber Logan Paul.

In a video posted to TikTok by former One Ring owner Brook Trafton, Malone can be seen accepting the card, which is the only one of its kind in existence.

@brooktrafton When I found the One Ring, the first person who came to mind was @Post Malone. I have played MTG since I was a kid and obviously it would be amazing to keep this card. But for a guy like me, being able to sell it is life changing. I just really hoped it would go to someone who would appreciate it as much as I do. This is my dream come true, meeting Post Malone and him buying the One Ring card from me is literally a moment straight out of a fairytale. Post Malone @Magic: The Gathering you have changed my life. Things like this don’t happen to people like me, I guess it’s magic. I am forever grateful 🙏 ✨ #postmalone #onering #oneofone #mtg #magic #mint #psa #card #magicthegathering #lordoftherings #trading #tradingcards #theonering #sauron #collector #edition #one #gandalf #tradingcardgame ♬ original sound - Brook Trafton

"When I found the One Ring, the first person who came to mind was Post Malone," Trafton wrote on his Tiktok caption. "I have played MTG since I was a kid and obviously, it would be amazing to keep this card. But for a guy like me, being able to sell it is life-changing. I just really hoped it would go to someone who would appreciate it as much as I do. This is my dream come true, meeting Post Malone and him buying the One Ring card from me is literally a moment straight out of a fairytale."

It didn't take long for the mythical One Ring card to be found after it was first printed, as two weeks after the set launched in stores, it was claimed. Collectible grading firm PSA verified the authenticity of this card in June and scored it a "Mint 9" on the firm's grading scale, adding to its legend and value.

Serious question: Is Mint 9 the max grade possible? If no, then what could've possibly damaged the card to decrease its value a whole point?

Also, can you imagine a random dude going full Seto Kaiba on that card and destroying it so no one else had access to it? I'm glad the original owner gave it a better use.

@hectorv: 10 is the highest grade.

And I doubt it was the handling (as anyone buying these cards would know about the card). From what I understand, sometimes the printing press or cutter doesn't line up 100% (which could reduce the score).

I have hundreds of grading pokemon cards and, any number of things can keep it from receiving a GEM MINT 10.

Scan lines on the card (from the printing process) image centering on the card itself. Color, clarity, scratches, bends (usually from bouncing around in a booster box during shipping) even the back of the card goes thru the same grading process.

This is why it is hard to receive a GEM 10. And, since 'The One' card is just that, MINT 9 is the highest grade THIS card will ever receive.

@esqueejy: I mean people with money have to spend it on something right? What would be the point in being rich if you don't spend it.

@esqueejy: Its an investment, like how people buys cases of brand whiskey then a few decades later they can sell those tax free. I mean some pokemon cards to this day have an insane value and collectors pay it. As long as that card remains absurdly rare, he has 2 million in the bank, not to mention he can pay insurance for it.

@s1taz4a3l: He's not spending 2 million on a card for an investment. And are you suggesting that getting to pay insurance for something is a good thing?

@s1taz4a3l: Um, what? Okay, I'll bite. Please explain to me how paying insurance for my car is benefiting me in any way if I never have to use it.

I've spent a ton of insurance in my life and would love to know how I could be profiting off it without risking jail time.

@s1taz4a3l: No, I think he's spot on. You don't seem to know how insurance works. Insurance isn't an investment. It protects investments. You don't get to pay insurance, you have to pay insurance. In the majority of cases, paying insurance is just throwing money away.

You're the first person I've ever heard getting excited over the prospect of buying insurance. There are also about a billion better ways to invest 2 million than buying a Magic card. He bought it because he wanted it, not to make a profit.
