Pre-TGS: Tecmo Talks Sequels

TOKYO - We confirm that Tecmo is building Deception 3 and Monster Rancher 3 for next year. First details inside.

Comments

TOKYO - In our discussion with members of Tecmo today, GameSpot News has confirmed that both Deception 3 and Monster Rancher 3 are in development.

The new Deception title is being developed for the PlayStation hardware and should land in Japanese stores during the first quarter of 2000.

The next installment in the Monster Rancher series, although in development, hasn't been announced for any specific system yet. However, we've been assured it will either be for the PlayStation or the PlayStation2. According to Tecmo, the company doesn't think any game series should leap to other platforms (much like Capcom building Resident Evil for both the PlayStation and the N64).

Tecmo has also revealed that a new Monster Rancher card battle game is also in development for the Game Boy Color. We'll have more on Tecmo and its products in our coverage of the Tokyo Game Show floor tomorrow.
