Bethesda has announced Prey will be available worldwide from May 5 on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC. It has also released a new gameplay trailer teasing the sci-fi action game's story, which involves an alien infestation on the Talos I research facility.

The video (below) features voice over from protagonist Morgan Yu, who was involved in experimentations on the aliens. These organisms seem to have the ability to shapeshift and the tests change Morgan too, bestowing him with similar abilities.

Bethesda has also announced the Cosmonaut Shotgun Pack preorder bonus, which "consists of Morgan Yu’s family heirloom Margrave shotgun and tools to fight threats aboard Talos I." These tools are three Neuromods which players can use to unlock new abilities, two Medkits, and a Fabrication plan to create the shotgun and ammo. There's also "a starter kit for building tools and weapons, and a unique upgrade to help players preserve their limited resources."

Prey is being developed by Arkane Studios in Austin, Texas. This is a separate team from the Dishonored and Dishonored 2 developers. Creative director Raphael Colantonio previously described Prey as "a hybrid game where there's narrative mixed with action mixed with a little bit of [an] RPG layer."

The first Prey was released in 2006 for PC and Xbox 360 and developed by Human Head Studios. Prey 2 was previously in development with Human Head Studios at the helm, but was ultimately cancelled in 2014. Arkane's Prey is a completely reworked reboot.
