Konami of Europe today announced that its Pro Evolution Soccer series will make its first appearance on the Xbox toward the end of this year. The popular series, which is known as Winning Eleven outside of Europe, is currently exclusive to the PlayStation 2 and is considered by many soccer fans to be reason enough to own the console.

"We are delighted to be bringing what is rightly seen as the pinnacle of football titles to a new legion of fans," said Kunio Neo, president of Konami of Europe. "It is one of Konami's most prestigious and most important titles, and we anticipate that the Xbox version will enjoy the same phenomenal level of success as its predecessors on other formats."

"Pro Evolution Soccer is a fantastic football simulation," added Michel Cassius, senior director, Xbox platform and marketing. "Konami's reputation for delivering stunning match-day action that plays almost identically to the real thing is renowned across the globe. Coupled with the fantastic graphics and advanced gameplay that the Xbox offers, we foresee one of the greatest transfers of all time when Pro Evolution Soccer signs for the Xbox."

The Pro Evolution Soccer series is currently scheduled to make its European Xbox debut in the fourth quarter of this year. We'll bring you more information on the game, including its title, as soon as it becomes available.
