Pro Race Driver going Live
Codemasters announces plans to rerelease the Xbox version of Pro Race Driver with full Xbox Live support. New screens inside.
Codemasters has today announced plans to rerelease Pro Race Driver with Xbox Live support later this year. The enhanced version of the game, which was originally released in North America in April, will allow up to 12 players to compete simultaneously via either Xbox Live or System Link play.
The game's new dedicated Xbox Live mode will feature quick match, optimatch, and friends support and will also let players chat to the two racers closest to them on the circuit using the communicator headset. Playing the game on Xbox Live will also unlock all of the game's 42 cars, 12 championships, and 38 race circuits.
Depending on the speed of players' connections or how many players are available, a number of the 12 cars that can be on the track at any one time will be AI-controlled--ensuring that the racing is always as action-packed as Codemasters intended. The Xbox Live-compatible version of Pro Race Driver is currently scheduled for release in Europe (where it's known as TOCA Race Driver, among other things) toward the end of October. No North American release date has been announced at this time, but we'll bring you more information as soon as it becomes available.
