Project Entropia upgrades
MindArk integrates the NetImmerse 4.0 engine into its massively multiplayer role-playing game.
MindArk AB today announced that it is upgrading the game engine used in its upcoming online role-playing game, Project Entropia. The game will use the NetImmerse 4.0 engine, and the company expects the upgrade to be completed soon. The latest version of the NetImmerse engine will add support for bump-mapped reflection mapping, hardware character skinning, environment skinning, and a number of other advanced graphics features.
Project Entropia will be a massively multiplayer online role-playing game that takes place on a remote planet in the future. Players will assume the roles of human colonists, and they will socialize with one another, explore the planet, and fight alien creatures and dangerous robots.
The game will be supported by online commerce rather than the typical monthly subscription fees. Players in the game will have the option to purchase in-game weapons, armor, and other items by using real-world currency. If players choose not to spend real-world money on equipment, they can go on adventures in order to collect in-game currency and equipment. Those who wish to will also be able to sell in-game equipment for real-world currency.
