PS Plus Members: Last Day To Grab Shadow Of The Colossus For Free

March's PS Plus games are free to claim now.

March 2020 has given us a ton of great games to sink time into (including Animal Crossing: New Horizons, Doom Eternal, And Half-Life: Alyx), but for PlayStation Plus members, it also means a new batch of free PS4 games. As usual, these games are free to keep as long as you have an active PlayStation Plus subscription. This month, we get one of the best remakes in recent memory and a game that is definitely not that. And while you're downloading these two, you can check out what the April 2020 PlayStation Plus games are, too.

First up for PS Plus members in March: Shadow of the Colossus, an HD remake of the 2005 PS2 classic. Shadow of the Colossus follows a man named Wander who travels across a forbidden land to battle massive, armored colossi. The game earned a "superb" 9/10 in GameSpot's Shadow of the Colossus review for its stunning visuals, riveting fights, and very good horse.

Now Playing: Free PS4 PlayStation Plus Games For March 2020 Revealed

"Shadow of the Colossus is a tremendous journey, and one well worth taking and retaking," wrote Edmond Tran. "The visual overhaul is stunning, thoroughly enhancing every facet of Wander and Agro's excellent adventure. Galloping through the tranquil world is always breathtaking; felling a monumental colossus is always humbling. Shadow of the Colossus is a beautiful reconstruction of an already exceptional title. It continues to be a modern classic and is an extraordinary game that everyone must experience."

The second free game for March is less exciting, but if you're in the mood to play some Sonic after watching the new Sonic the Hedgehog movie, Sonic Forces is still worth snagging while it's free. Featuring both classic side-scrolling and modern 3D gameplay, the 2017 game starring everyone's favorite blue hedgehog takes place in a time where Doctor Eggman and his minions have managed to conquer the world. Sonic and other familiar heroes like Knuckles, Tails, and Amy form a resistance hoping to stop Eggman's evil plans.

The game earned a 5/10 in GameSpot's Sonic Forces review--editor Matt Espineli enjoyed its thrilling action but criticized its overall lacking story and clunky platforming. "Sonic Forces ultimately fails to advance the mechanics of previously successful 3D Sonic games or present them in their best light. A mediocre platformer at best, Sonic Forces manages to do nothing more than reinforce long-held stereotypes against Sega's beloved blue blur," he wrote.

If you're looking to renew or extend your current PS Plus membership at a discount, there's a great deal on a one-year membership at Ebay, which is selling 12-month PS Plus codes for $37.50 each. Considering PS Plus subscriptions generally go for $60 and rarely drop below $40, it's worth snagging this offer while still available. This is a digital code you'll receive via email within 24 hours of purchase. Plus, check out all of the other free games you can claim right now.

Nice. A remake of a game that was already mediocre, at best, on PS2 and Sega's attempt to copy Mario 64.

At least my kid will get to try this Sonic game. I'll get to teach him why Nintendo is still making consoles and SEGA is now reduced to a shadow of what it used to be.

@tlpina: Pretty sure Sonic Adventure back in 1998 was Sega's attempt to copy Mario 64 lol

@brandsome: I know. That's the sad part. 20 years later and they still can't get it right.

@brandsomeBrandsome: Uh? Sega never tried to copy Mario, they only went 3D like almost every plattformer game(Earthworm Jim, etc.)

Sonic is also about speeding around and the game mechanics are totally different to Mario games so no,Sega never tried to copy Mario.

Shadow of the Colossus has the worst controls of the century just skip it. One of the games i really regretted purchasing a hard copy of. I only did it to get the limited steel book. I wouldn't even recommend playing this for free as it's just a lesson in frustration and poor control.

@rickjamesia: I played through it and thought the controls were better than the original. No issues the games is a masterpiece and a beauty.

Disappointing month. They had something good in recent months so it was bound to happen soon.

They aren't free, it's a rental, you must have a sub active to play them.

@rickjamesia: Your irony is not needed. I say this since the beginning and it's true, you can be sarcastic and fooling me as much as you want but the truth is that it's a rental not only because if you don't have an active PS plus sub you cannot play these games, but also they show like you don't own them since you can still buy them like the other games, so they aren't free, it's a rental, in fact when you rent something you can only play it/use it for a limited time, so the PS Plus games aren't free they are for rental, maybe a very cheap rental, but always a rental.

@thear: Exactly. I don't know how you can call it free when you have to keep on paying a sub to access them.

@firedrakez: think of it this way, its like a "free" gift the petrol stations offer when you fill you car with fuel to a certiain amount, your gonna have to or want/need to anyway, a "free" perk or gift is a bonus, you can take it or leave it.

You DONT HAVE to subscribe to any service, you choose to.

You could argue to play online you HAVE TO but then, again its choice buy a PC so you dont have to.

You could be missing out on exclusives on other platforms and this may be a negative in this case but again its your choice if you can afford it.

You may love playing online on the pay to play services and the liks of Sony DONT have to give you anything so its "free" with respect to them.

I agree the term "free" is a clever marketing ploy used to gain subscribers and a nice touch to keep the already paying ones, well sometimes if the games are ok.

:)

They aren't free, you must pay every month to play them, it's a rental, stop saying they are free because they are not.

Feels like I never have to buy any Playstation first party games. They always end up as Plus titles eventually.

Good month overall. SoTC is a fantastic game.

Sonic forces is ok, but not worth full price. Its way to short, but its ok if you can catch it on sale for like 10-15$ range. Free is even better.

Don't think I have Shadow of the Colossus in my library yet so that's awesome. Can't really get into Sonic games anymore but SotC is more than enough for 1 month.
