Bugsnax Is Free To Claim For PS Plus Subscribers On PS5 Right Now

PlayStation Plus subscribers can claim Hollow Knight: Voidheart Edition and Middle-earth: Shadow of War right now, with PS5's Bugsnax unlocking later this month.

November's PlayStation Plus freebies for subscribers are now available to claim on PSN, and it's quite possibly one of the best months ever for the program. Hollow Knight: Voidheart edition and Middle-earth: Shadow of War are up for grabs in November. Both are great games, but the most exciting freebie is the bonus one: Bugsnax. Yes, we're talking 'bout Bugsnax. The PlayStation console exclusive is free for subscribers now.

Though Bugsnax is available now on both PS5 and PS4, only the PS5 version is free for PS Plus subscribers. You have a longer window than usual to claim Bugsnax, as the promotion runs until January 4. Bugsnax is a story-based puzzle game featuring a wide variety of interesting creatures called bugsnax. Since its reveal this past summer, Bugsnax has been one of the most talked about holiday games due its quirky premise and sheer abundance of charm. It's from the same studio that created Octodad, which itself made quite a splash with its own brand of humor. The newly released game earned an 8/10 in GameSpot's Bugsnax review.

Hollow Knight: Voidheart edition bundles the stellar Metroidvania with its four DLC packs. If you haven't played the breakout hit from Team Cherry, now's your chance to snag it with PS Plus. Hollow Knight has a sprawling and endlessly captivating world filled with a bevy of secrets. It earned a 9/10 in GameSpot's Hollow Knight review, with critic Alessandro Barbosa praising the game's scope, combat, and visual design.

Middle-earth: Shadow of War is an action-RPG set in The Lord of the Rings universe. It's the sequel to 2014's Shadow of Mordor and expands on the innovative Nemesis system while adding more strategy to combat encounters. Though Shadow of War has an uneven story and too many systems in play at times, it's still a solid game that's worth checking out if you're a LOTR fan. It earned a 7/10 in GameSpot's Middle-earth: Shadow of War review. Since its initial release, it has also had its microtransaction-heavy market system removed and the endgame process streamlined. It's necessary to complete it after you finish the last mission in order to get the final ending.

You can't even claim PS Plus games through the new online store anymore, so I have no way of getting Bugsnax. Every day they try to rip us off harder.

EDIT: Yes, the store does say you can add it to your library despite not having a PS5. This just isn't true, I've looked everywhere. Online and on my PS4.

Pretty clear what it means. If you're a PS+ member the games come at no extra cost.

If they removed "PS Plus" from the beginning of the title then the whole "but they're not free" argument would have some weight to it but as it stands it's very clear you need a PS+ sub.

Amazon Prime members get "Free Next Day Delivery". Do you complain about that also?

@brandxbeer: You'll get what, 24 games with PS Plus per year? Included in the price of playing online for about $50 a year. That works out to be about $2.09 per game, which is 100% NOT free, but a pretty good deal. If you REALLY think of it, and want to nitpick about "free," unless you didn't pay for your Playstation, don't pay for your internet, your mortgage or rent, or your electricity, even if the $50+ annual fee was waived, technically, these games still wouldn't be free. Someone is paying for something I listed.

@kgsg-19-2: it's one of the greatest months. Shadow of War is a GREAT game and winner of Gamespot and other game of the year awards. Likewise, Hollow Knight is around 90% on meta.

@ahsanh: meh... call me when the "greatest" month is more than a witcher rip off which is just use special attack and then use basic attack and a generic 2d side scroller and neither seems to have a fantastic story to make them worth playing.

Hollow Knight is the absolute gem here. It is arguably the best Metroidvania since Symphony of the Night.

Kinda Crap for me personally BUT

SHadow Of War was handsDown one of the most fun games i played this generation.

I double downed and played it on Xbox as well..

It's fun to stop and play inbetween major story elements and have fun with the Orcs & Nemesis system...

Actually,, i find it odd that one didn't play this game.

Hollow Knight alwyas seemed like a generic Indie game.

Think i own it on STEAM BUT WHATEVS.

Im happy for this month cause everyone should play Shadow At War....

@vigariox: I've got quite an experience with Hollow Knight. I bought it at launch on Steam, played it for two hours, didn't like it and quit for a couple of years. Everybody's been praising it to high heavens, so I bought it again on my Switch, since I'd rather play this kind of game on a handheld console.

I've played it for like 8 hours and I really don't like it. And this comes from someone who lives and breathes with Metroidvania and Soulsborne games. One of my friends really loved it and whenever he comes over, I humor him by playing an hour or so, since he really likes watching people play.

If it weren't for him, I would have uninstalled that game. I know it's one of the better Metroidvanias according to people, but it's really not for me. I enjoy next to nothing about this game.

Holy crap, good thing I didn't buy Shadow of Mordor! It has repeatedly been on sale for $5 for the past 6 months but I was waiting for Black Friday to buy most of what I've been waiting on. I feel like making Hollow Knight one of the games is a similar move to what they did with Street Fighter V, most people who wanted it already own it.

edit: I see some of you in the comments saying you're happy about Hollow Knight, and I really thought most of you had already played it! They way everyone talks about it, I figured Hollow Knight was the indie darling of this generation, like Braid & Super Meat Boy were last gen.

Once you get good(which you will) the features are fun.

**You unlock stuff like Warp into any enemy and you can with er war kill or convert them.

It's a great way to travel around the map. It becomes 2nd nature..

*Get The 1st game cheap. it's worth it imo..
