PS2 Classic Dragon Quest VIII Announced For 3DS in Japan

Possibly the best game in the series, voice acting added a ton to the game and gave personality like never before to its characters. Especially the man and his horse daughter that were all cursed.

Sounds great, I haven't played this one.

...yet the US hasn't even seen the DQ7 port , so I'm holding my breath at all.

I just beat this game again last summer. I'd love for it to come to the 3ds. One of my favorite games for the ps2 as well as top 10 rpgs for me. Loved the tension system

Cant believe its been over 10 years since i last played this! I have never finished it, time to dust off my PS2, this game was really enjoyable!

I actually owned this game, but never got the chance to play it when I did - it never even came out of the packaging.

Would love to play it again. I also hope they localize DQ7, and equally as important DQ Monsters.

I would seriously go out and buy some collection of all of the DQ remakes they made for Gameboy Color and Nintendo DS if they released that on the 3DS as well. And Sentinels of the Starry Skies - that was pretty great.

Oh great, now they're retroactively applying DLC to classics.

Since the chances of this coming to the West (hello DQVII, DQM) is pretty much nil, I'll just stick to the PS2 version.

How bout release both this and Dragon Quest VII worldwide Square Enix. I want to give you money but for some reason you don't want it.

Ummm isn't Dragon Quest VIII alreadily fully available for Android and IOS??? I mean, sure the 3DS will deliver a unique experience but... who doesn't want to play that game in a slightly bigger resolution and with dedicated controller?

(Also possible on tv with hdmi cable...) Like with a shield or with any tablet compatible with moga controllers or so...

Final Fantasy Advance collection with IV, V, VI on 3DS please.

arguably the best entry in the dq series and one of the best games ever developed by level 5. finished this back in 2005 and had a blast with it. the 3ds won't do this game justice, but it is good to see they haven't forgotten it exists. why this game is not on psn and vita is beyond me.

I'd prefer a new one for a console, but whatever, not getting this I still have the PS2 one, and still can play it on my PS3 and PC; what intrigues me is that if this will be something like tales of the abyss or atelier rorona, well, we will see.

Okay, look. The DQ games are awesome, and I've been a fan for decades. But it'd be really nice if we could get a new game in the series that ISN'T on a handheld. I loved DQ8, and while 9 was good, it was still a letdown that it wasn't on a console.

These are sprawling, epic stories, and porting all of them to the small screen is nice for us who like to game on the go... But what about the BIG screen? D:

Square enix still milking DQ VIII after all these years. I think it's been nine or ten years since it first released and they still trying to make some money out of the game, I mean they already had ported this on iphone and android and make the characters appear in multiple games now like DQ IX and DQ heroes. I don't mind it at all since it's a great game and everyone should enjoy it but I really wish they make an new numbered DQ on home console. DQ heroes on PS3/4 sold like 600k - 700k first week combined and its a spin off. I'm sure a main number DQ will do a lot better.

So were doing the new comment section early I see. Well anyways, I pray Dragon Quest Vlll comes to the West and if this 3DS wasn't curse, (I'm talking about region-lock) I import it with no problems.

My favorite JRPG on the PS2! I still have my complete copy of the PS2 original with the cardboard box along with the demo of Final Fantasy XII.

Would be great if Square Enix actually brought the 3DS Dragon Quest games to the west.
