PS4-Exclusive "Dumb Robot Golfing Game" Receives a Firm Release Date

Robots, golf, and virtual reality.

100ft Robot Golf was announced back at PlayStation Experience last year, and it looks pretty absurd. In the game, you take control of--you guessed it--a 100-foot-tall robot playing golf. Today, developer No Goblin revealed that the game is coming to PS4 on October 10.

In a statement, No Goblin confirmed the release date and also explained the game's PlayStation VR compatibility. The game is fully playable in PS VR as well as on normal screens, but it also has a separate VR mode that lets you ride on top of the robots. You can take a look at it in action in the video below (via GameSpot sister site Giant Bomb).

100ft Robot Golf isn't just about trying to get pars and birdies, though. Because you control a massive robot, the game emphasizes destruction as much as it does keeping your score low. In addition, it supports four-player online or local co-op, and No Goblin says that you can mess with your friends by shoving objects in front of their shots.

PS VR launches on October 13 for $400. You can check out a list of some of the other games coming to PS VR here. Keep an eye on GameSpot in the coming weeks for more on the headset and 100ft Robot Golf.

@belmunday: I'm shocked! You mean to say a first person shooter has you shooting opponents from the first person perspective? How dare they not include things like driving, RPG aspects, stealth attacks, crafting, spaceships, unlimited-ammo weapons, and casual puzzles. I mean, they are pretending they are just like Battlefield, with its dynamic entertainment range of shooting enemies while running around in a first person view. What's next? Sports that have no other formula than moving an object (be it a ball, puck, or dart) to a specific or non-specific target (goal, basket, outfield, or pins)? Oh wait, they are ALL like that. Sarcasm aside, what new aspects did you want added to a shoot-em-up formula, that does not rely on fanboy adoration and brand bashing? FPSs pretty much all suck the same b00b of mediocre gameplay.

@Barighm: No kidding. I laughed at that game's simplicity and overhype right up 'til they offered a free weekend and I became addicted to Rocket League. I hope this goes massively popular, as well. :)

Really? Your article title makes be feel "dumb" for being interested in the game.

It is that kind of subjective comments in articles that makes me not want to read news from particular sites.

@xwingvmanx: You people should pay attention to punctuation. (Ironically, one of the last comments I made on gamespot was to someone saying grammar isn't a matter to be concerned with on a gaming site. This comment above proves that it IS) That part of the title is in quotes, meaning it is taken directly from someone else's comments, not the article writers. It isn't subjective writing, but objective quoting (admittedly without the proper references). This description, in fact, comes from one of the employees at the developer's OWN company, No Goblin:

"In another video from PlayStation, Dan Teasdale at dev studio No Goblin admits that the game is dumb - hey, his words, not mine - but also reveals that it was Sony that approached him with the idea to make 100ft Robot Golf a VR game." -from some other game article.

Don't feel dumb for being interested, feel dumb for not understanding how language works. J/K :P

Game needs more goats and planets. Maybe they'll add them in DLC.
