PS4/PC's The Witness Has a Puzzle You May Never Solve
Creator Jonathan Blow says only 1 percent of players will be able to figure out one of the game's puzzles.
It will be very challenging to achieve 100 percent completion on Braid creator Jonathan Blow's upcoming PlayStation 4 and PC game The Witness. Blow says in a new interview that the game has at least one puzzle that is so difficult that he thinks only 1 percent of players will complete it.
Discussing his willingness to cut content that is deemed to difficult, Blow said he's more likely to cut things that simply aren't good. In fact, there are "hundreds" of things cut from The Witness, but some ultra-challenging puzzles were not among them. "There's at least one puzzle in the game right now that almost nobody--like 1% of players--will ever be able to figure out," Blow said on the PlayStation Blog.

The Witness has around 667 puzzles, and it should take you about 20-25 hours to complete the game. However, completionists could spend closer to 100 hours before they're done, according to Blow.
The Witness, which places players on a mysterious island filled with physical puzzles and riddles, was first revealed in August 2009. In February 2013, Blow took the stage at Sony's PS4 reveal event to announce that the project would be a launch title for the new console, but that didn't happen.
On PS4, The Witness runs at 1080p/60fps. Meanwhile, the PC edition will support virtual reality.
The Witness launches January 26, 2016 for PS4 and PC. Overall, Blow describes it as "the best game that I know how to make right now."
"It pushed my design skills to the limit, it pushed my organizational skills… it's a very complicated game with lots of things in it, and they're not independent things," he added. "They all reference each other and work with each other, so you can't just work on one thing at a time. It's the best thing I've ever done, and that's all you can ask for, right? I hope my next project will also be the best thing I've ever done, but for now it's this."
