There are numerous anime games releasing in 2018, and among the first is The Seven Deadly Sins: Knights of Britannia. The game just recently launched on PS4, and in the video above, we play through about the first hour, so you can get some sense of what to expect.
The Seven Deadly Sins started out as a manga series in Japan before being adapted into an anime. Knights of Britannia marks the first console video game adaptation of the series, following an earlier 3DS game. Like that title, this was developed by Namco Bandai, and it takes the form of a third-person action game.
As we note in the video, Knights of Britannia offers more for fans of the manga or anime as opposed to those just coming to the series. It features a cartoonish art style that's reminiscent of Valkyria Chronicles, but it has the benefit of including an incredibly cute pig. You'll also get to assume control of a variety of characters, though you'll start with Meliodas as your lone option.
Much like the source material, Knights of Britannia centers around a story where you're tasked with bringing together the titular Seven Deadly Sins, a group that's being pursued after taking the blame for overthrowing the Liones Kingdom. If you'd prefer to catch up on the show before playing, the anime is now streaming on Netflix in the US.
Whether Knights of Britannia is up your alley or not, it won't be your last opportunity to play a game based on an anime. It's one of more than a dozen notable anime games coming this year; we've already seen Dragon Ball FighterZ, and there are titles based on Naruto and One Piece still to come, among others.
