PS4/Xbox One Release Date For Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen Revealed

The new enhanced port of the open-world fantasy RPG is coming soon.

Capcom has officially announced a release date for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One ports of Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen. The game, originally released on PS3 and Xbox 360 in 2012 and brought to PC in 2016, will come out this October. You can check out the new trailer above.

Dark Arisen is an enhanced version of the original Dragon's Dogma, and the PS4/Xbox One ports will come with all of its extras. There awre many new items, weapons, high-level armor options, and overall improvements in Dark Arisen, along with visual enhancements and a new area to explore called Bitterblack Isle.

In May, Capcom made a low-key announcement that the game was coming to the consoles to commemorate Dragon's Dogma's fifth anniversary. The game has drawn many comparisons to games like Skyrim, Dark Souls, and the Monster Hunter games, but set itself apart in the fantasy RPG genre. GameSpot's Kevin VanOrd gave the original version an 8/10, applauding its fantastic combat, monsters, atmosphere, and "one of the best boss fights in any role-playing game, ever." The game has a unique "pawn" system, where players can recruit other player avatars as AI-controller party members.

Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen comes out October 3 on PS4 and Xbox One. Follow GameSpot's full coverage to see more of the game in action.

Onimusha 2 was the absolute best, and the king of RPGs back in the day. superb franchise, I'd love to see a remaster or follow up to it.

Still glad they're bringing DD:DA to PS4 though, it's a sublime game and worth a 9/10 imo not a measly 8/10.

I think one of them had an actor in it (like, voice and face). So they'd have to remake that character from scratch with someone else doing the voice too. I think it was in the 3rd or 4th game?

I am kinda happy for remasters when they are released with DLCs that might no longer be available today (seriously, have they pulled any additional content from the PS3 store or 360 store?).

But at the same time... THIS IS THE REMASTER GENERATION (not even mostly of older games like Day of the Tentacle or Full Throttle, but previous gen remasters)!

They better have renewed the license to put the Berserk set items back in. Stupidest part about the PC port, and no one could mod them back in either.

@wildfirev2: Unfortunately, RockStar don't do remasters. I admire their stance on that to be honest, it means that new games are their focus rather than rehashing and profiteering from people's memories of games of yesteryear. It was a good game (GTA IV) but I'd rather see GTA VI. And RDR2 of course.

I don't think PC came with increased draw distance from what I remember, although it's been a while since I played it on PC

Love DD. Awesome atmospheric graphics, quality gameplay and a game that seem to go on even after you complete it. Doesn't treat you like a baby either without being pointlessly ruthless like certain other RPGs. Just stick to the paths, especially at night! ;)
