PS5 And Xbox Series X Will Be Sold In Best Buy Stores September 23

This week, Best Buy hosts a very rare occurrence: in-person sales of current-gen consoles.

If you've been following news of the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, you know that the consoles are still extremely difficult to find in stock. While retailers have been selling a handful of consoles online per week, they've been even rarer at physical stores. Best Buy will be changing that beginning September 23, however.

Best Buy will have stock of the Xbox Series X and the disc drive version of the PS5 in stores on Thursday, September 23, which will be for the first time in over a month. The retailer confirmed this with a listing on its website the day before.

"Limited quantities" of Xbox Series X and both versions of the PS5 will be available. However, the Xbox Series S is not listed, and not every store is participating.

The current generation of consoles has faced a challenging combination of low stock and high demand, driven in large part by worldwide microchip shortages and ongoing logistics difficulties stemming from the COVID-19 pandemic. Retailers tend to put units on sale seemingly randomly, and bots and scalpers have further added to the low stock. I went at store opening and they were ALL sold out because what they don't tell you is that BB sometimes opens the store SOOPER early and sold everything already. Came at 10AM but they opened at 7:30 JUST FOR THE SCALPERS!

@JanesAnsible: had the exact same experience. I'm not sure what time they opened early to let others in, but security told me people started lining up at 5am and they had sold out of all consoles almost immediately. My dumbass waiting in line at 9:45am thinking "this is a piece of cake, almost no one is showing up."

graphics dont matter , gameplay does . (i like my arcade style games) . Wouldnt mind to see these titles for Ps4 xbox or switch: wrestlemania arcade game 2 , bouncer 2 , zombie revenge 2 (one of the coolest arcade games by sega )

Stopped by my local Best Buy this morning. Line AROUND the building, I was going to get in line but, people already had tickets. So odds are I would be losing time out of work for nothing.

Got a PS5 for launch and got a series x for the bedroom on my first attempt. It's been nowhere near as bad as the GPU shortage imo.

@alku: I got a PS5 at launch as well. I picked up a series S because they are cost efficient and its mostly for exclusives and game pass. PS5 is still going to be my primary system.

Oh, great. In the store, Impossible for me. I have work, no way I am going to sit the day before in front of best buy to have a "chance" to get a PS5.

I went to my local best buy 2 weeks ago to get a game I ordered, There was a line around the building, I asked one people, what you waiting for, they said NEW video cards were coming in...

SO I know there will be huge line, and NFW waiting like that for a "chance"

@Bahamut50: I do agree and I can wait as I am not so much into the new consoles as I was an long time ago. I have my PCs that I mainly use and I have my PS4 and Xbox X which I only turn on to update, get the GP and PSN freebies.

There’s no reason in the world to try so desperately to get one right now. Eventually, you’ll be able to walk into any store that has electronics and walk out with one like you used to be able to do. This isn’t a permanent thing. There will come a time either next year, or 2023, where you’ll easily be able to find either of these consoles. No one needs a new console. They just want one. I want one, too, but I still have plenty to play on my PS4 Pro.

@stickemup: @stickemup:People have been saying this for over a year now. In the world of technology when there are constant advancements and upgrades being made. Waiting a year for a new graphics card or game console is catastrophic. Will probably be another year or longer yet still and that's terrible. It's actually a crisis and people are downplaying it.

I work 5-6 days a week 9-5 or longer, and the best time I have is around Saturday morning when I can take the time to check for new consoles. Sadly, the least likely time they would be any to buy.
