Amid PS5 Pro Rumors, Sony Announces Presentation For Tuesday

It looks like the rumored PS5 Pro will finally be revealed.

Sony has announced that it will be airing a PlayStation Technical Presentation on Tuesday, September 10, at 8 AM PT / 11 AM ET. The stream will last for approximately nine minutes and can be watched on PlayStation's official English YouTube channel. [Update: The event is over, and the PS5 Pro has been officially announced.]

Over on the PlayStation Blog, senior director of communications Sid Shuman said, "Join us for a streamed presentation hosted by Mark Cerny, Lead Architect of the PS5 console. The nine-minute Technical Presentation will focus on PS5 and innovations in gaming technology."

While Shuman doesn't outright say that Sony will reveal the long-rumored PS5 Pro, it's hard to imagine a better time to do so than in this technical presentation. Sony may have accidentally confirmed the PS5 Pro topic and name, as an unlisted video was discovered using that name before it was amended.

Earlier this month, images of the alleged PS5 Pro design was leaked, and then last week, Sony may have revealed the design itself through PlayStation's 30th anniversary imagery.

It's currently unknown how much a PS5 Pro would be, but some analysts predict that it could be $650. Reportedly, developers who release games on or after September 16 also need to make their games compatible with PS5 Pro. The console is reportedly codenamed Trinity, and will feature a more powerful GPU and CPU.

This entire console generation had been a wash. Lets hope things settle by the time a ps6 or xbox series one xxx is revealed.

This is a money grab and nothing less you will do better just by switching to PC or upgrading your PC then buy overpriced trash and that goes for all system not just this one. this Generation has been joke and Sony is leading the charge buy selling consoles at overpriced point and Microsoft is Next in line by giving their customers absolutely nothing but the wood as they bend over and ask for more at this point.

If you want to know what the price of thing will be just at the look at trend of how consoles have been going up in price rather than down, so to you all that hope this thing is real it will cost at least $700.00

@ceelogreen94: I don't think it will start at and be "at least" $700 because that would be too much of a leap over the existing PS5. Look at 2016 when the PS4 Pro came out; $300 regular PS4 and $400 Pro model.

Maybe a highest-end one with a disc drive and a 2TB SSD will be $700 but that would be on top of a $600 or $650 digital one

@Spartan_418: Nope 700.00usd 100%, I don't see them giving you a console with the power of 7700XT for under that. You all can think they will, but they would lose too much money on that console if they did.

Sony smells blood in the water and they aim to kill at this point with XBOX fumbling left and right and I like XBOX over Sony but I have to say PHIL has been Nightmare for XBOX and needs to be fired for someone who can put XBOX on the map with a killer instinct on making games exclusive and locking up 3rd party games as well like they did with the 360.

Whatever the price, just remember that people paid $700 for the 3DO back in the early 90s. The equivalent of over $1,500 today.

Not sure how they can justify the purchase when you have no major exclusives launching in the near future?? Where is Naughty dogs new IP, where is GoTs 2, any updates on guerilla games? The only studio that has been cranking out games is insomniac. Not convinced new hardware should be the priority.

@dushness: No, a mid-gen upgrade should not have exclusive games. If it has games that can't be played on a regular PS5, then it shouldn't be called PS5 Pro, it should be called PS6

not like how series s and series x have to be the same.

ps5 pro should open up new things in a game and make it really worthwhile to play the game on that console.

@mooglestar: Jimmy boy only got fired back in March of this year, so... gotta wait a few more months for the rest of his mistakes to come out, then a few more months for new games to get announced, then a few more years for those games to get made and come out; if they don't get delayed to come out on PS6, that is. Well, at least there's GTA 6.

Just got rid of my PS5 and I'm done with console gaming!

This is the worst gen of consoles I've been part of / purchased.

The most fun I had with my PS5 has been playing previous gen remakes...

I even purchased the very promising PSVR2 only to realise I was using it 95% of the time to play beat saber, an underwhelming game which had no benefits of the promising PSVR2 hardware...

I feel the PS5 era had a lot of untapped potential which was let to waste by lazy developpers a bit like PS3 era...

But, at least during PS3 Era, first party Sony titles were amazing.
This gen (PS5) Sony did absolutely nothing to make its hardware "shine"...

Video Game industry is sick, wether it's console gamings which is very underappealing or PC gaming requiring 3000$+ rigs and bi-annual upgrades to even keep up.

I can't afford to follow this trend anymore...
