PSP Go launching with 225 downloadable games

I prefer UMDs over Digital downloads.

No UMD conversion means that I don't want to buy a PSP Go. Anyone who wants it, feel free to buy, I won't stop you. It's just a matter of opinion. I don't want spend even more money on games that I already have on hard copy.

Sony wants your souls.... there is no escape for people whom bought the GO.... you either get ripoff from Sony or nowhere to buy your games!!! i was wondering if how many GO's are sold on launch?

why not make them downloadable for the ps3 to. some people have money for only one system.

@vengeance00 if you have the slim or fat psp you can still get downloaded games from psn

@condelirios you know that you can take the games out from your psp then switch them if you like with you computer?

i'll stick to my old bulky PSP 1000.As long as games are still released on UMD i am fine.

225 available for download... space for... 10. 16GB? That is it? Are you kidding me? Amoung my many PSP Go questions.. 1) M2 memory stick.. Why? The MS Pro Duo is small enough...and has more capacity available. 2) Only 16GB included for digital only gaming? Give me a break.. make it 200GB and then we can talk. 3) UMD = 4.7GB ... why did you not have one in the machine again? 4) $249? Why is it $90 more than a PSP 3000? Honestly? Why? Let's change the PSP Go's name to PSP WHY?

I just woke up and there is no crisis core or dissidia on the store. also they have 3 star wars games but I never got a chance to play lethal alliance and was hoping that would be in the store but it's not. I hope sony comes out today with a list and schedule of when these games or if these games and others will be on the store. It would go along way with me if they did!

The one thing i dont get is I keep hearing about people not wanting to lug around all there umd discs......Where do these people go? I take the bus to class and to work. one disc in the slot and 5 or 6 on a memory stick is more then enough. I own over 60 umd games. and have never felt inclined to take them all with me wherever I went. Usualy just the one I was working on at that time was fine. Maybe people who dont play a game to completion need to have 30 games with them at one time. Just flew over my head I guess.

So is anybody going to actually buy this awkward, overpriced, and in many ways, inconvenient thing?

Got the phat DS and the phat launch psp. Dont need a DSI as long as dsiware consists of puzzle games and the new kingdom hearts is a cart. Dont need a psp go as long as the phat can still support current software updates and access psn. Some game companies will re release there games as many times as they think they can re sell them to us. Square enix I love you but am looking at you here. console makers do the same thing. sometimes the coolest version comes out right before the formats life cycle ends. (clears throat and mutters game boy micro.) Ill get a pspgo if the time comes when the 1000 cant support the current software updates. However if that doesnt happen Ill wait for the psp2 or 4000 or whatever. and ill hold out on the dsi until its dsiware shop offers something other then art style puzzle games. i mean the net browser is neat but i have a computer/mp3 player is neat but i have an ipod ext ext.

Well.. the new PSP store is up.. and the cheapest mini game is 4.99.. Tetris is 10 bucks.. Not a mini as was probably anticipated.. Oh.. and as of this moment only 7 minis..

I agree with FoTwinny. It's nothing more than an alternative. Sony has even stated that the PSP Go will sell beside the PSP, not replace it. I think it's a good idea. There are many casual gamers out there who would rather have a few games without carrying all the UMD discs with them. Also, not everyone is concerned with reselling a game once they have bought it. Personally, I pay for a game not to re-coupe my cost later, but to actually enjoy the game and support the companies that make good products. Simply put, you want downloads and UMD's, go with the PSP. If you just want downloads go with the PSP Go.

Ugh. Has Sony ever considered that a person buying a GAMING console might not want the sort of crap found on the iphone app store? Then again, crap like that sells.

you know that downloadable are not exlusive for the PsP Go you can still download them in the slim or fat one, and if you think that your 1or2gb memory is small save the games on your Pc and change them, you might have a small number of games in your slim but you have the old Umd

it looks stylish...... but im not gonna buy one for the price, might as well buy a ps3 for the same price

I'm grateful to Sony. It's painfully obvious that the PSP Go is going to be the next big handheld failure (even though I personally love my PSP-2000) and hopefully this will finally show those publishers trying desperately to push download-only distribution (Capcom, EA et al.) that while digital distro has a future, physical media will not die out. Sony themselves have been looking a little cautious recently...note how they've been highlighting that titles like Gran Turismo will be coming out on UMD too...? I'm not completely against DD, as it does offer indie developers an alternative method of distribution with minimal overheads, but for triple-A titles it's a dead end.

I'm happy for all the downloadable games. I may actually download some of these onto my regular PSP if the price is right. Otherwise I'll get the UMD version on EBay for 1/2 the price. I wouldn't waste my time with the PSP Go. What a ripoff. Just wait for the PSP2.

Most people complain that with its lack/omission of features over the PSP3000, that the GO isn't much of an upgrade.. guess what? It's not meant to be an upgrade! It's not a replacement, but an alternative. Why are ppl who own a "normal" PSP even complaining? We've got the best of both worlds now! I suppose it's noble to want to educate/warn unsuspecting buyers about what they're getting into w/GO, but NEW buyers won't miss the UMDs or deleted features because they have no basis on which to compare. "OH, the PSPGo is gonna be such an epic fail..blah, blah, blah"...Who cares? Are you bragging or just jealous?

i forgot to mention. nearly ALL games for the psp are about 7 uk pounds cheaper (and you get a tangeable product that you can keep forever!) on Ebay than on PSN.... so how much are sony making taking into consideration that their costs have just been halved? if you don't want to carry umd's around with you... slap custom firmware on your old psp (not for piracy.... before any moron starts complaining) and rip your umd's to very cheap memory cards. While you're at it..... get into emulation and play some of the best games ever made on other systems. or buy a psp go and play the new need for speed at 32 uk pounds... even though i just found it for 25 uk pounds... new and sealed on ebay with free postage from a powerseller.

i played my dreamcast yesterday. it's 10 years old and i had a great time with my collection of 150 odd games. i actually spent about an hour just looking through all of the games and manuals etc. try playing your psp-go in 10 years time. or try propping something open with it instead... like a door.

wow well arnt Sony generous !! 3 free games from a "SELECTED LIST" but at least the game cards in outlets is a good idea but other than that i cant see any reason to get it like i watch my game trailers and news on gamespot and i don't need a psp go to watch videos or films !!

hmnn they failed to include mention of the reduction of "ghosting" on the Go as compared to the 3000.

Like I said before, I would have bought it if there was UMD conversion and it were like 50 bucks less. But for now, I have a two word description for the PSP go. EPIC FAIL.

Im very dissapointed with Sony's harsh treatment of users of old PSPs. I bet you 100 dollars that by next year, there will be the new PSP STOP. LMAO.

I think there might be a few draw backs and i do think that Sony is playing favorites when it comes to transferring the UMD's to Digital only in one part of the world. Didnt they say that the psp go is not so post to replace the psp 3000? So why are so many people comparing the two if they are different systems in the first place? Its like taking something from Sega and Nintendo and complaining that they are not the same. It does not make any sense. People if you dont like the psp go.. then dont get it, its that simple. The psp go is for people like me, Digitally inclined not wanting to carry all these games and have all these bags or worry if the game is scratched, broken, or stolen. People that know what can go wrong with data loss will back up there files like they know how, just like people that have the physical game know how to take care or it and not sit on it or brake it in any way. If you have the data or just the CD or UMD... no matter how you would like to see it you can still lose the game. If its your little brother/sister erasing the data or scratching or braking your disk, its all the same, in the end you cant play it anymore. The USB is a problem for thoughs of us who are forgetful about forgeting the charger at a friends house or moving and leving it at the old house or what not. I have had this problem to. I think they should have stuck with the mini USB or another more common, but then again im sure they have there reasons. I do admit Sony can do better. But it will still be one hell of a game system for us who know how to use it.

I would like to know where we can find a list of titles that will be available as of October 1st, I am interested in picking up Phantasy Star Portable if available...

Customers still pay full price for downloadable games - even though half the price of videogames is to pay for the manufacturing of the case, booklet, and disc. If you are not paying for the case, booklet, and disc - then why are so many of you still willing to pay full price? Digital downloaders pay full price for half the product - suckers! If I pay for a product, then I own it. If you pay for a product, then you own the license to it . . . . . until they decide to take it back. I can do whatever I want with what I paid for and now own. You can only do whatever Sony allows you to do with what you paid for, but do not own.

You are angry because you can't afford it. Lots of ppl said that no UMD support is a disaster, come on, seriously, how many still buy UMDs? Have you heard of something call ISOs? lol don't pretent you don't know that. This thing is perfect and with the reduced size making it totally portable. My only displeasure is the removal of the standard USB plug, what happened if you lose the cable? you can't charge the damn thing.

Let me get this straight: Sony wants me to buy a more expensive machine that it has a monopoly on software for (meaning it can charge any price it wants since there is no competition), and has fewer features (like a UMD drive) than its current, less expensive machine. AND I'm sure there's a Kindle-like option for Sony to delete or limit whatever software I "license" from their store (the only store in town, as it were). Gosh, Sony, how can I say 'no, thank you' to such an enticing offer? But I think I'll pass on your latest EPIC FAIL!!!!

The only reason I would get a PSP Go is if I do not want to cart around X amount of UMDs, but that also means I would need seperate copies on download. Oh well, at least the content is available to older PSPs as well, so if I wanted MHFU, I do not have to go out to a store to get a copy.

As great as this news is it sucks for those who have umd games and can't download it to the pspgo, But at least the have some a nice amount of games ready for download along with movies and shows.

THE PSP GO is stupid. YOu can't sell your games and the games that you paid for can't be converted. It looks like sony is killing them selves with every turn. THe PSP GO is going ot go the way of the PS3 a slow spiraling death.

it would be stupid to add a second analog to the psp go. or else it would make the current psp useless. i expect it on psp2 though

Have they mentioned anything about DRM? What if a game is tied to your PSP GO but something happens and you have to get a new one. Would you have to repurchase the game?

This is no good. People do not want to have both systems and they need to be offered something to make them want to go... go. You can't offer free games to one market at launch and nothing to another. PSP owners should be offered a trade in deal to get the digital copy of games they currently own.

@ mf1986 Sony is still selling the PSP-3000 system. So, even if PSP Go is a flop, they still will have made their profits, gotten feedback from the community to use for PSP 2, and will still have a viable platform to continue selling. It's not comparable to the launch of the PS3 or even the original PSP launch. There's not as much risk involved. _

we Australians have very poor broadband system here. most ppl have plans around 10gb per month, so anything downloadable is an issue here. psp games are around 700MB to 1.5GB. so couple of games will eat all the usage. i thought after the PS3 launch price Sony would've learn something. who are they gona fire this time after PSP-GO fails?
