PSVR 2 Horizon Call Of The Mountain Bundle Gets Permanent $200 Price Drop
The Horizon Call of the Mountain PSVR 2 Bundle previously retailed for $600.
The PlayStation VR 2 has received a permanent price drop. The PS5 and PC-compatible virtual reality headset now costs $400. The price change is still rolling out, but multiple retailers, including Amazon and Target, have already adjusted store pages to reflect the PSVR 2's new MSRP.
PSVR 2 Horizon Call of the Mountain Bundle
$400 | Price dropped from $600
The PSVR 2 includes the PSVR 2 headset, PS VR2 Sense controllers, and a pair of stereo headphones--everything you need to connect and play on PS5. This bundle also includes a voucher for Horizon Call of the Mountain, one of the platform's most impressive technical showpieces. This bundle originally retailed for $600.
Going forward, the Horizon Call of the Mountain Bundle appears to be the only PlayStation VR 2 you'll find on store shelves.
PSVR 2 - Standard Edition
$400 | Price dropped from $550 and discontinued
PlayStation also dropped the price of the headset on its own to $400, down from $550. Since it's priced the same as the bundle, you won't want to buy the standalone headset from a major retailer. Thankfully, making that mistake would be quite challenging, as PlayStation appears to have discontinued the standalone headset. Retailers briefly had it for the new price before listings began to disappear.
PSVR 2 PC Adapter
$60
While the PSVR 2 PC Adapter cable is not part of the price drop, you'll need this handy accessory if you plan on using the headset on PC. Once you have the adapter, you can download the free PSVR PC app from Steam to start playing PC VR. The adapter effectively adds thousands of paid and free SteamVR games to the. PlayStation VR2's library. Just make sure your PC meets the minimum specs for VR, as outlined by PlayStation:
- Operating system: Windows 10 64-bit/Windows 11 64-bit
- Processor: Intel Core i5-7600 / AMD Ryzen 3 3100 (Zen 2 or later architecture is required)
- RAM/memory: 8GB or more
- GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 or later (Turing or later architecture is required) -NVIDIA RTX series-AMD Radeon RX 5500XT or later/AMD Radeon RX 6500XT or later
- DisplayPort: DisplayPort 1.4 (must have a standard DisplayPort or Mini DisplayPort out port)
- USB: Direct connection only
- Bluetooth: Bluetooth 4.0 or later
Now that the PSVR 2 is more affordable, that frees you up to grab a few VR-compatible PS5 games to use the headset with. There are dozens of PSVR 2 games available, including VR-exclusive titles like Beat Saber, Alien: Rogue Incursion, and Metro Awakening VR, and PS5 games with dedicated VR modes like Gran Turismo 7, Tetris Effect: Connected, Resident Evil 4, Resident Evil 8, and No Man's Sky.
