Rainbow Six Siege Dev Will Not Tolerate Team-Killing

"We have a plan in place" to handle trolls, Ubisoft says.

One of the pieces of feedback from Rainbow Six Siege's recently concluded open beta is that team-killing was too common, souring the experience for some. Thankfully, then, Ubisoft has confirmed that it has a plan in place to "handle" trolls when the game officially launches tomorrow, December 1.

No Caption Provided

Someone on Twitter asked: "Are you going to do anything about trolls that kill people on their team?" Ubisoft responded (via VideoGamer) by saying, "Yes. We have a plan in place to handle them. It will not be tolerated at launch!"

Siege is a team-based tactical shooter that requires players to work together to complete objectives like rescuing hostages. With only one life per round in some modes, team-killing is undoubtedly a particularly frustrating and annoying behavior.

Ubisoft did not share any further details about the efforts it plans to take to combat trolling. Other games take on the issue by booting offending players from individual matches or even temporarily (or permanently) banning their accounts in some cases. We'll have the details about Ubisoft's plans for Siege when they are announced.

Siege launches on December 1 for PC, Xbox One, and PS4. The game's open beta, which ran into some problems at its start on November 25, wrapped up today, November 30.

how about fix the FUCKING servers!!!!!! Fucking game pisses me off on that note, and to think The Division is same company? When that game comes out, they better have their shit together. Getting kicked/booted, randomly disconnected before I even load the game. It seriously loads saying can't connect to Raindow Six Siege servers. Are you fucking kidding me?

I swear this stupid shit better not happen with The Division. Stupid mistakes can cost a great game

It should be like CoDs Richochet mode where the Team killer loses life if he/she shoots his team. Otherwise, if your team killing "k/d" goes past/below a certain point...you should face a suspension followed by a ban.

Reading the comments I can see that a lot of you don't understand Rainbow six or why "removing friendly-fire" isn't an option. This isn't call of duty, this is a tactical shooter where you're expected to take all of these things, including line of sight and friendly fire, in to account. Hope this clarifies, but I'm sure it's not enough for some.

@Calikidd86:

Agreed. This game isn't designed as a spray-n-pray fest. You're supposed to use situational awareness...this includes not shooting a fellow squad member. I find the "threat" of downing a team member by accident part of the fun. It makes me conserve ammo, focus and work with my team rather than lone-wolf it

Boo. You should give people that freedom to troll their team mates from time to time. You can get a good laugh out of it. There's nothing more I used to love than pepper spraying and tazer gunning my own team mates in Swat 4. That was the most hilarious shit back in the day. I'd gladly do it all over again given the option.

And this is why you have no friends. When you reach a moderately old age and gasp your last breath in your sea of proxy-cat "friends" that you sadly accrued (the only living things able to tolerate you)...I hope you realize in that moment, your only legacy in this world is these cats, the very same cats that will devour your decrepit corpse because you have no one in your life that would find you in time. Happy holidays cat food.

@Crossel777: While im glad they are addressing this issue..... Some of my best memories of cod4 were search and destroy with a rogue rpg spawn teamkiller. after the first round everyone runs or dives in a separate direction; it created moments of hilarity when the guy would only blow himself up. but my all time favorite was (same mode/game) when a sqd member just goes postal and murders all his teammates using knives/guns. the next round we all turn on him to kill him first, someone had the bright idea of throwing a flashbang, resulting in everyone just spaying at each other blindly.lmao

So basically they are penalizing people for something that they allowed to be in the game.

That's super smart and customer friendly.

Umm there are penalties for doing the wrong thing in ALL games. You're supposed to be a responsible individual to know the difference. I could go out right now and shoot a convenience store clerk and take the $156.75 from his register...why not? Life is letting me make that choice right? ...no, there are consequences for your actions. When you grow the right amount of hair on your body and work for a living...you might get it...maybe.

Because it is a tacticial shooter and therefore must controll your damage. Otherwise, your team could run in a room while a teammate in the back would toss nades right in after you proceed to clear... Problem they are talking about, which seems it would be pertaining to people like yourself with that opinion, is folks that think it's funny to just shoot other teammates on the mission start.

Fact that someone has to explain that to you makes me wonder.

@Jew1:This is something I still fail to understand why it is allowed. Some games like Halo have terrible team-killing fucktards. I mean, dear god if you happen to get the sniper rifle or rocket launcher before one of your teammates and they just HAVE to have it.

@DrizztDark: And you seem to have completely overlooked the point of my comment. Allowing team killing just lets assholes ruin the game. If you want realism, join the military and quit playing video games.

@erraticfox: I dont even know where to begin. I bring up valid complaints about allowing team killing and you have to degrade yourself into attacking and belittling me.

To the comment of running and gunning, you wouldnt do that even if your teammates couldnt kill you since you can be killed so quickly in this kind of game and the "run and gun" approach would just bring all attention to you by the enemy team.

Next time you post something, you might want to think about what you are writing and not come across as an asshole while attacking people you have never met. This comment section is a forum that people can express their opinions on the topic at hand, and in this case is it about team killing in Rainbow Six. Just because someone has a different opinion from your apparently strongly minded opinion, doesn't mean you have to resolve into belittling and attacking them.

I accidentally killed two team members otherwise the team's weren't bad. I never experienced any trolling myself. First one was trying to shoot a drone during prep mode and I didn't realize that there was friendly fire and I took a shot at it with a shotgun and the guy was right next to it. The other was more along the lines of a stupid mistake I got kinda jumpy and shot the first person I saw after I heard someone breaking in.. it's just too easy to kill the team members. If they want to do something against it they can at least have it less damaging or just get straight to the bleeding out timer to where you can fix your mistake kinda

@kaalkurayami: @senorbusyman: It's a game they are having fun, what the **** did you expect, the only solution to this is just turning off friendly fire or have two different types games. Most old MP games have that option among most new ones too.

Why don't the devs do this. It's kind of funny but if you shoot a team mate accidentally or on purpose you deal that damage and not them. This means, trolls will just be killing themselves so they won't continue trolling. As for accidental shots, the player will still learn from that mistake without having harmed their team mate.

Sadly I found team-killing a necessity during the beta. Too many idiots would spawn with the bomb and then just REFUSE to plant it...

I had to kill the bomb-carrier WAY too much during the beta...

Make sure that it isnt an immediate ban or anything like that for killing team mates due to friendly fire. Sometimes I would be aiming down a hallway and my buddy would get in my line of fire and BAM I kill him, all accidental of course.

If you are going to handle friendly fire on, make sure that there is some kind of voting system in game (There is one already, but let everyone know about it) so if there is friendly fire we can vote to kick or not, and some kind of feedback for your team mates like a Good Teamwork, Friendly, or a simple Thumbs Up could remedy this as well. Either way, cant wait to see what you guys implement.
